Rapper and wanna-be boxing promoter 50 Cent went on Twitter very early Monday morning to say that his highly-publicized beef with Floyd Mayweather Jr. over the weekend was staged. The Twitter beef between them went mostly one way with 50 Cent tweeting at Mayweather. Floyd finally got in on the act by calling 50 a “groupie” in response to the rapper chiding him on Friday night. Now 50 Cent appears to be backtracking (or revealing the truth, depending on how you view things). He sent the following tweets early Monday: I’m sick of all this nonsense Floyd asked me to act like were fighting cause no one was paying any attention after his 60 days.#SMSaudio — 50cent (@50cent) November 5, 2012 Domestic violence is very serious my apologies,my grand mother said we need to stop playing I’m done sorry#SK — 50cent (@50cent) November 5, 2012 I know some the thing we do in hip hop for shock value are wrong. He just wanted some attention Floyd is like a brother to me.#SMSaudio — 50cent (@50cent) November 5, 2012 He just called he mad I said something about domestic violence. He just want be in music. You ever hear him RAP?lol — 50cent (@50cent) November 5, 2012 He texting really trippin over the domestic violence tweet. It’s true everybody know, he already did time for it. SMSAudio — 50cent (@50cent) November 5, 2012 Is 50 telling the truth about matters? Did Floyd really ask him to start a beef for attention? There were a number of people who suspected that was the case. After all, this is boxing we’re talking about, where promotion is the name of the game. But I thought the beef was a little too personal with too much name calling to be fake. Plus, there is a real back story that lends credence to the beef being real. Are you telling me that the failed business partnership between the two was also made up? I don’t believe that. Our friend Rob at Black Sports Online has another theory about what happened. According to Boxing Scene, Mayweather and Golden Boy Promotions were working to have one of 50 Cent’s fighters, Billy Dib, removed from a high-profile boxing card in December. Golden Boy and Mayweather are apparently upset that 50 is insulting them and trying to take business away from them, so they are attempting to fight back by blackballing him. 50 probably learned the hard way that he can’t make enemies with all these people and expect to get too far in the business, so claiming the beef was staged could be his way of trying to save face. What do you think — is their beef real or fake?

TCU players furious about College Football Playoff snub

You can argue that no college football team had a worse day than TCU. The Horned Frogs were No. 3 in last week’s College Football Playoff rankings and beat Iowa State by 52 points on Saturday, but fell in the most recent rankings to No. 6 and will miss out on the Playoff. As you can imagine, some TCU players cannot believe that their team won’t get the chance to play for a national...

Brian Hoyer unlikely to be with Browns in 2015

Though Cleveland could very well use the franchise (or transition) tag, ESPN’s Adam Scheffer reports that quarterback Brian Hoyer is unlikely to return to the Browns in 2015. “Short of a playoff trip this season that could force the Browns to ramp up efforts to keep him, Hoyer is expected to depart Cleveland after this season when he becomes a free agent,” Schefter said on...

Get this: The Chicago Bears reportedly don’t like how their investment in Jay Cutler is panning out. Shocking, right? NBA execs: Jason Kidd not playing Jabari Parker enough

Milwaukee Bucks first year coach Jason Kidd has the Bucks off to an 11-10 start after 21 games – which nearly is the win total of the entire 2013-2014 NBA season, where Milwaukee won a combined 15 contests. However, the reversal of fortunes early on for the Bucks doesn’t matter to league scouts and executives who believe coach Kidd is hurting the development of Jabari Parker...
