Robert Kubica's Crash

In case you missed it, the F1 Canadian Gran Prix ran today in Montreal on the same track that the Busch Series will run on in early August. I watched a good portion of it today before I was called away on "Dad Duty". As an aside, can you believe that Hamilton kid? Wow.

Anyway, just coming out of a short left hander, leading down a very short portion of straightaway before plummeting into a hairpin right turn Robert Kubica was beside the other Schumaker when he was bumped/forced off the track, got airborne, hit the wall head-on, barreled rolled back across the track, hit the outside wall and came to a rest on his side. Just watch the video.

It was a scary crash and let me tell you I had visions of Gilles Villeneuve's fatal crash in my mind when I saw Kubica's crash. Honestly, I thought he was dead.

Based on what I've heard through various media sources Kubica is awake and alert with no real signs of trauma and will probably be released from the hospital in the morning. Wow, again.

His life is a credit to the safety measures that are built into the car and the HANS device.
