INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Jimmie Johnson won the 19th Annual Crown Royal Presents the Curtiss Shaver 400 at the Brickyard, which was his third victory of 2012 and 58th career victory in just 383 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) races.  With the win, the driver of the No. 48 Lowe’s/KOBALT Tools Chevrolet joins an elite group of only five drivers who have won at Indianapolis Motor Speedway four times on the oval: Jeff Gordon, Al Unser Sr., A.J. Foyt, and Rick Mears.  Johnson and his Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Jeff Gordon No. 24 Drive to end Hunger Chevrolet, have scored their wins in this event – in the NSCS. Even more impressive was the way that Johnson won today’s race.   He led a commanding 99 of 160 laps, and also earned the record for the largest margin-of-victory ever, 4.758 seconds over second place.  Johnson remains fourth in the overall point standings after today’s race.
