Great American Athletes.
There is no doubt that the United States has produced some of the greatest athletes the world of Sports have ever seen. And with the Fourth of July just around the corner, I figured, why don't we list a few of these great American athletes.
One athlete that popped into my mind was this guy:
Michael Phelps. Love him or hate him. Question him or not. There is no doubt he is a great athlete. In Beijing he accomplished something no other olympic athlete has accomplished. He won 8 gold medals. He has won 16 olympic medals in total, 14 of them are gold (most by any olympian). He is 2nd to Larissa Latynina who has a total of 18 olympic medals by competing in 3 olympics. A feat in which Phelps may pass depending on the number of events he competes in during the 2012 olympics and if he stays on top.
