Boston Cetics beat Miami Heat 101-91 in East Game 3 and Johan Santana throws first no hitter in New York Mets history
Well
the Boston Celtics showed they could play and beat the Miami 101-91 in Game
3, the game when the team without the
home court advantage comes home and has a decent chance to win. And the Celtics
almost beat the Heat in overtime in Game 2 in Miami so they could be leading the series
2-1 but that is the advantage Miami has going into Game 4 Sunday night in
Boston.
Rajon
Rondo played well again not 44 points well but he distributed the ball well as
the point guard in the Celtics win. Mike Miller had a nice game 3 point
shooting for the Heat and Lebron James was on and off again and Dwayne Wade wasn’t
that impressive either. And those are reasons I don’t like the Heat to win ultimately. They
are good often and when they need to be and could win but they don’t always put
it together consistently and Boston could still beat them in the series, but it
will take their best veteran effort or a Heat meltdown both of which could
happen so we’ll see what happens.
The
other big news Friday night was that Johan Santana and the New York Mets both
threw their first no hitter as the Mets beat the defending champion St. Louis
Cardinals 8-0 at New York’s Citi Field. It was Santana’s first no hitter and
the New York Mets first no hitter as a franchise in 51 years. Only the San Diego
Padres have never thrown a no hitter. In another oddity the Chicago Cubs for
all their futility haven’t been no hit to my knowledge since Sandy Koufax
perfect game in 1965. You just never know when a no hitter is going to happen
in baseball and Santana’s no hitter was the third one this year. Jered Weaver
of the Angels no hit the Twins on May 2 and Phillip Humber of the White Sox
threw a perfect game at the Mariners on April 21. Its never fun to have a no
hitter thrown against your favorite team and we have a friend here who is a
Cardinals fan so don’t feel too bad. Also a Florida Gators pitcher threw a
college no hitter Friday night so something was in the air tonight to borrow
Phil Collins song. Best wishes and talk soon. Thanks for reading always.
