Bucky Dent played ball with Teixeira's father

What a small world. Mark Teixeira's father played high school baseball with Bucky "F******" Dent! Bucky Dent was a shortstop at Hialeah High School back in 1969. John Teixeira was the backup catcher on the team.

"John was kind of the backup catcher, I was a year ahead of him," Dent said from Florida. "I kind of lost track of him for a long, long time and then I saw a Teixeira playing for Georgia Tech, and I was wondering if that was his son because I don't remember too many Teixeiras being around."

"When Texas drafted him, Mark came down to work out and I was hitting him some grounders and I saw his dad standing off to the back and I went over there, I hadn't seen him in years," Dent recalled of that August day in 2001. "I asked him what happened, and he said he left and went in the Navy. That was the first time I had seen him in a long, long time.
