Kanye West Teaches Serena How to Apologize

Kanye West's moment of silence last night was 1,000 times more sincere than all the pre-fabricated, agent-inspired statements Serena Williams can issue.

Last night on Jay Leno's opening show, Leno asked West what his recently deceased mother would have thought of his rude act at the MTV Awards Sunday night taking the mike from Taylor Swift and proclaiming that Beyonce deserved the award that Swift had just won.

West was taken aback by Leno's question. Leno prefaced it saying he had the pleasure of meeting West's mother shortly before she died. Kanye just hung his head in silence for what seemed forever.

Finally he said, "Yeah, I'm just ashamed that my hurt caused someone else's hurt. I need to, after this, take some time off and just analyze how I'm going to make it through the rest of this life; how I'm going to improve."

That was without doubt, one of the great TV moments of the year. Television doesn't get any better than that.

On the other hand, Williams took two days issuing non-apology apologies for her disgraceful outburst at a poor Japanese lineswoman Saturday night, just prior to match point at the U.S. Open.

Finally, yesterday, Williams came to the post-match doubles press conference with a well-rehearsed routine. Oh, after pointing and threatening at the poor petite lineswoman and cursing her out, now Williams wants to hug it out.

What a phoney. What a bunch of crap. And now she's making the talk show rounds trying to repair her image. Today it's Good Morning America and The View. Tomorrow it's Live With Regis and Kelly.

It's like her agents told her there isn't a sponsor out there who would want to be associated with Serena Williams after her Saturday night act. That could be millions down the drain. So she decided she better pretend to be sorry. Well we're sorry, Serena, but we're not buying it.

It's too bad, too. Because for all the Wimbledons and U.S. Opens that Serena has won, she will only be remembered for one thing, her Saturday night tantrum. Which cost her a whole lot more than this year's open.

Kanye West, on the other hand, has now won over a whole new group of fans. Pay attention Serena. Maybe it's not too late to learn how to rap.
