Region3Soccer: Houston Hurricanes struck by Bandits in Belize

Houston Hurricanes made the journey to Belize for their international friendly match with Belmopan Bandits, a match that would see the Texas side take on a club side that has won three of the last four national titles in the country, a tough task no one would disagree.

After a light training session on Saturday morning, the Hurricane squad relaxed in their hotel surroundings which was ideally located right across the road from the stadium where the match would take place but come game time, the players and coaching staff were ready, and what a start they managed!

Amazingly it took just six (6) seconds for the visiting Houston side to open the scoring thanks to Carlos Rebago who went on to earn the MVP after a tremendous display.

What with a side full of top class full time professionals, the host were soon to display their class and eventually ran out 4-2 winners over the Hoops.

Coach Brendan Keyes said,"The fans played a big part in the game tonight. I was talking to hundreds of fans after the game and all they talked about was the goal of the game from the MVP of the game Carlos Rebago, what a great goal after only 6 seconds to give the Hurricanes a dream start."

"A shout out to the whole country of Belize for making this a great experience. Thanks to the Bandits team and coaching staff for a great welcome. We would like to invite you to play in Houston and can try to give you the same wonderful treatment, very gracious hosts." he continued.

"All Houston Hurricanes fans be proud of Carlos Rebago he was the best player on the field tonight against the best team in Belize. The Bandits are a top quality team and the Canes had some great players from Belize tryout tonight and I want to say a BIG thank you to you all. I would also like to thank the Jamaican boys it was really nice to hang with you boys and of course can't forgot Josh and Alex for coming to help us out." he rounded off.

Final score from Belize, Belmopan Bandits 4 Houston Hurricanes 2
