Region3Soccer: Pensacola City FC initial roster highlights depth of local talent

Pensacola,FL_Thirteen local players highlight the recent announcement for the 2014 roster of NPSL’s Pensacola City FC where plenty of experience and eye-popping talent will take the field this summer in what promises to be an entertaining soccer atmosphere for the community.

Following the success of their first season in 2013, PCFC are fielding a Men's team fortified with local products and some top level players from all over the world.

Pensacola Catholic High’s own, Diego Figueroa, became the team’s first signing for the 2014 season. Diego is entering his Senior year at Belmont University in Nashville.  Diego will be joined in the midfield by West Florida Tech and current UWF player, Miguel Santos, forward Gerald Praylow, from Escambia High, Milton’s Jeff Ransom and Max McDaniel from Gulf Breeze High.

The goalkeeping battle will be one to watch as UWF’s Steve Hermosa will be in competition against former Pine Forest star and a member of the Philippine National Team player pool, Brandon May.

UWF is well represented with seven current and former players, including Division II Second Team All-American, Felipe Oliveira, returning player, Dillon Gallet, and Zach Reynolds.

The offense is expected to produce big numbers this season.  Besides, Oliveira, PCFC has returning player, Andrew Saukira coming over from the LA Galaxy Reserve team and Attacking Midfielder, Division II All-Region player, Robert Ochieng leading the way with Nicaragua national team player, and another returner, Alvaro Pichardo to cause havoc for the defenses.  Another player to watch is Ballo.  He has been camped over in France the last two season.

Owner Bill Fetke shared his thoughts, “This team has a great chance to go far this season.  We had a great team last year, but this one we have put together seems to have a chip on their shoulder, especially the returning players who just fell short of the Southeast Title last year.”

Pensacola City FC opens play for their 2014 season on May 14th at Home vs New Orleans Jesters, 7pm at Ashton Brosnaham.  You can get tickets at
