Region3SoccerUSA: Three amigos remain for Region III in US Open Cup after night of high drama

Woof, what a night in the US Open Cup! We started with six participants from the Region III area, come the end of play, we were left with three!

First up to progress came NASL side Carolina Railhawks. Second came USL PRO side Orlando City SC, then MLS leaders FC Dallas came along to become our third participant to make in through into the final eight.

Sadly, our other region wide sides lost out in varying degrees. Houston Dynamo suffered badly at the hands of fellow MLS and Texan rivals FC Dallas, losing 3-0 over 90 minutes. Charleston Battery went closest and were leading for the majority of the game against Real Salt Lake from the MLS, but extra time seemed to drain the USL PRO side and were finally defeated 5-2 by the time the 120 minutes were played. The final match of the round saw NASL side Tampa Bay Rowdies make the trip to Portland Timbers only to be overpowered by the MLS side, losing 2-0 over the piece. - See more at: http://www.region3soccer.com/2013/06/three-amigos-remain-for-region-iii-in.html#sthash.dx2muWYp.dpuf
