Kapil Dev accuses BCCI of threatening players

Former India captain and Cricket World Cup champion Kapil Dev alleged yesterday that the powerful Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was intimidating players by threatening them with life bans if they joined the Indian Cricket League (ICL). In addition to defending his commitment to cricket, the former all-rounder and Chairman of the ICL's Executive Board claimed the BCCI's attitude towards the newly-formed league was "unfair." Kapil added that while the ICL is looking for big commitments, his league is not trying to rope in superstars, but rather, "we want to make superstars." In light of their growing feud with the BCCI, the ICL looks to be facing an uphill battle.
