Birds fans: NOW we can get that #1 WR
You guys know I don't ever say something unless I truley believe it... I've never been for the WR rumors before the draft but read on.... Hmmm is Philadelphia the only city that realizes that our All-Pro CB Lito Sheppard is still an Eagle? I mean you can't find info anywhere about this. After long speculations for the last few months comming into the draft, the Eagles did not trade Lito Sheppard. YET.... What they did do however was trade out of the 19th pick for Carolina 1st round next year which will be a pretty good pick. Our Philadelphia Eagles now have some leverage Look at my scenarios.......... 1st Scenario- (THE ONE WE ALL HOPE FOR) We now have both Lito Sheppard and two first rounds to dangle in front of any team with a #1 WR R. Williams, A.Bolden, C. Johnson We keep one 1st round pick and trade Lito the a 1st for any of those guys and become the instant favorite out of the NFC EAST......... in addition WE WIN NOW 2nd Scenario- (Ehh not exactly what we want but it'll work) We keep Lito and our picks go into the season with whatever we have and have the best CB tadem in the NFL by far. The positive is we get to see what its like to have two #1 CBs on the same team the negative is they'll have to pick up for the slack the because the offense wont be as productive without a true force. The end result we have two 1st rounders for next yr and we still have a solid team that can compete for a superbowl 3rd Scenario-(This one is a bummer) We trade Lito for a future 2nd and a 4th make no strong additions and us Birds fans feel like we did last year after the draft. I know you didn't expect me to be the one to say we can get a #1 WR but can you blame me the draft does this to people and at the end of the day I JUST WANNA WINNA

I really didn't think yardbarker was a website for your wishful thoughts,
but a site for News,Rumors, like the "SIGN" STATES:
What is Yardbarker?
Yardbarker is where fans and athletes debate sports,
read and write articles, and watch videos.
but OK,,let's say you are corrct.
And Yardbarker is here for your wishes ...
try to include something with substance to discuss.
anyone can write I want player X, to add another of the hundreds ? of articles written already.
You really believe there isn't anyone here that doesn't know these 3 WR's have been discussed, every way ? bring something new ..true the scenerios, are a new-take to an old story.
but it's still an old story ... unless you heard something new, which makes any of these 3 available to be traded by their teams in anyway ?
and what's wrong with "smart"?
Intelligent conversation scares you ? ... but OK, ... maybe toyr right.
who cares about the NFL,and contracts(with NO TRADE clauses in them) because here fantasy football rukes.

Why are there so many Eagles fans out there that think we have no chance as an offense if we don't get a big vet reciever. You guys know that Donovan and the D somehow got us to 4 straight NFC Championship games with crap recievers like James Trash...Aligator Arms Pinkston, Fred EX NFL PLAYER......How much better is our offense now compared to then. Last year we didn't get it done. There were multiple reason for it though.
#1...our return game was HORRIBLE DREADFUL. In the green bay game we couldn't even catch the ball. (We drafted Jackson...so problem addressed, and we have Reid and possibly Lito if he sticks around as backup options
#2 Mcnabb Came back from an injury early. We have to Give Mcnabb props for the freak of nature that he is. That injury takes a year and a half to fully recover from. The 9th game of the season was the one year mark of his inury. The simple fact that he was able to come back is amazing. However it was very clear that he was not able to do the normal things that he can do early in the season. This hurt our offense for sure. However we all saw him start to get that burst back in his legs later in the season. After a full offseason to recover he should back to normal.
#3 Donovan mcnabb's favorite targets have always been the tightend and the running back . LJ Smith was horrible last year trying to recover from his injury. He just wasn't himself all year long, and for whatever reason the staff didn't have enough trust to play Celek until the end of the season. With a healthy LJ and a more experience Celeck Mcnabb will have his escape option back. This always gave defenses fits becasue they would do a good job shutting down the recievers and getting to mcnabb, but he would always escape and find a Tightend open to bail him out. Especially in the ENDZONE!!!!! How many times have we seen McNABB go to CHAD LEWIS or LJ SMITH in the enzone of the years.......That was what we were missing last year. Also with no LJ Smith as a threat it allowed defenses to Double up on the recievers. It is no surprise that when LJ got a little more healthy towards the end of the season that the WR numbers went up. Especially Reggie Brown.
Everyone is thinking BIG WIDE RECIEVER.......TRUST ME I WOULD LOVE ROY WILLIAMS or CHAD , but don't think that our offense is automatically going to stink!!
We have Westbrook in his Prime. The Defense is YOUNG FAST and The Best it has been in Years. A few years ago this Run Defense was one of the worst in the league. Now teams are going to have a real hard time trying to run on this D. It is going to free up our Corners. We have a lights out Return Man in Jackson and he we can line him up in the slot and the defense will have to put someone on him. He is a threat to take it to the endzone on every play. So now they have to worry about Westbrok, Jackson and LJ smith. I don't expect Jackson to play a ton of snaps on offense this year, but they will have packages for him and he should make an immediate impact.
As for Lito Unless we get Roy or Ocho then I hope we keep him. We will have the best Nickel Package in the game.. We will have to pay him though to make him happy. I say just tell him if he stays healthy that we will redue his deal and give him descent money. With a happy Lito we have two Probowl Corners. Who is to say he can't take the job from Sheldon Brown?

I will also add the pertinent point that Curtis was a 1,000-yard receiver despite everything you pointed out above... I expect Curtis to improve in year 2 in our system. If we then add Roy Williams next year, it's icing on the cake.

I want one just as bad as the next guy, but its NOT going to happen. At least not this year.
So lets get OVER the #1 WR rumor/question/trade/etc...
Be happy the Eagles came away with some pretty nice players, a few sleepers, a few question marks and TWO 1st rounders next year!
E-A-G-L-E-S...EAGLES!
Eagles2007 said April 28, 2008
The Eagles haven't announced these deals because they just enjoy torturing Eagle fans.
Be patient, Eagle fans. The Eagles will officially announce the deal for Chad Johnson right before training camp begins. They want all of you to be REALLY excited a few weeks before the season starts.
By the way, Harold Carmichael will will announce that he wants to help the Eagles win a Super Bowl this year. Can you imagine how deadly our offense will be with Chad Johnson and big Harold as our starting WR's? I can't wait to see #85 on one side and #17 on the other side.
We're going to the Super Bowl!!!

The Eagles don't need Johnson to win a Super Bowl.
Eagles2007 said April 29, 2008
1) They no longer have Chris Henry
2) They have no depth whatsoever. They have TJ and no one else.
3) Johnson might not play this season.
Here are the receiving stats from 2007 for the Bengals other WR's:
Reggie Kelly - 20 receptions for 221 yards and zero TD's
Antonio Chatman - 19 receptions for 149 yards and one TD
Glenn Holt - 16 receptions for 143 yards and 1 TD.
These 3 guys aren't good wr's. The Bengals had to draft at least one WR with their first 4 picks.
Even if the Bengals knew that Johnson would play for them this year, they still would have drafted at least one of these WR's.
