McNabb wants weapons

Donovan McNabb can never win. He is the company-man, a terrible leader, or a selfish player. I will admit that I have been on and off the bandwagon this season when it comes to Donovan. It is hard to be a fan when he brings some kind of drama to the season every year. However, I admire Donovan for standing up and finally making a public plea for more weapons on the team.

Now will COACH/GENERAL MANAGER Mr. Reid play along and do what his star is asking???? I doubt it....who are these guys and why sign them??--A.J. Schable, Jamal Jones , Michael Gasperson. COME ON Andy Reid you are starting out the 08 year like you did 07. STOP signing these bums!!! Until they prove otherwise that is what they are. I am already questioning these off season moves.

    • The problem isn't the players. The problem is the coach. All the Birds need to do is better utilize the running game, especially on 1st down, where the offense has become so predictable that McNabb gets sacked on 1st and ten more than any other QB in the league. Throw in some designed QB draws, along with a strong ball control running attack and the passing game will take care of itself. Unfortunately, this pompous coach thinks a 70-30 pass to run ratio is how to win a Super Bowl. Ughhhhhhh!!
    • 5 coudnt be any more right
    • OK. First of all, thecamelclutch is wrong. McNabb, When healthy, is in the top 10 in QBs. Anyone see his '04 stats? He was 4th in passer rating (104.7). Also, in the 33 QBs who started a game in '04, 29 people threw more INTs. 10th in comp. % with a 64.0. If the eagles pick up free agents Bernard Berrian, Brandon Stokley, or Devery Henderson, Philly may be playoff contenders. Curtis has speed, but not quite the numbers to be a top 20 wide. Donovan, if you read this, youguys NEEEEEEED another big play guy. Tell Andy to try and draft Early Deucet out of LSU
    • i think that they should just give Kevin Kolb the starting role
    • I wish some of the players in the Phillies organization had the stones to speak out like Donovan to improve their team. We get the same crap every year ... no names, or names who are on the downturn etc. We deserve better.
      • yes you are right we desever better then having mcsabb in there at QB.we need a leader not a throw up loser.mcsabb will never be a leader never not in this life time but i do know that he is laughing all the why to the bank.the EAGLES and the fans got it right up their asses when we picked him he sucks
  • lifetime21
man shut up mcnabb is the man don't hate and he does need some wr help the only wr that we have thas good is Curtis thas about it u stupid ass keep ur mouth shut if u have nothing to say

    • Your an idiot
    • mcsabb sucks he has to go he is why the eagles are not in the playoffs
  • Well lets Give The Man some Weapons Jeeze He Asked for Weapons Before And Who Came in T.O. Why Wouldnt They Give Him a Desired Weapon At least, Seriously I think People Need to Be Quiet about this whole Situation Mcnabb isn't Leaving Philadelphia Everyone Talks All this Garbage about this and that and it wont change a thing Because most peoples Opinions Dont Matter in the NFL, What one person may say wont change What the Nfl plans or will do especially a teams Orginazation So please let it go....
Yeah im not going to Lie We had T.O. And he is no longer with us but who's Fault is That T.O. Fault i wont be surprised if T.O. is the best Reciever that wont Ever Win A superbowl... Cuz the Way he has been will cause that very same thing at least hopefully he can stay in Dallas and try but winning it all wont happen......
Another Thing Reggie Brown is A Pretty Good Reciever, but i think he takes things to personal Before Curtis Came in He was Number one now he is number 2 and he belongs there he is a good Receiver dont get me wrong but for as much as he is getting paid he didnt do jack this yr...... And for Curtis starting the yr. and being a 3 string WR for a while he has shown why he is a 1st string......
So many areas have to be worked at but they can make it next yr. will be here for the Season and the Eagles will do a Hell of alot Better....
Even if they dont pick up any receivers Reggie Brown and Kevin Curtis Are Good Receivers as well As Avant...... It will all click for them i still think Reggie will either be 2-3 by this season they wont let him go cuz of his height n lethal depth down the field makes him the playmaker.........

please leave your opinion thank you....

  • Finally, McNabb thanks for speaking up! Honestly, I don't care who feelings you hurt in the locker room. The truth hurts. Other than Kevin Curtis our wide receivers suck. Get some real playmakers in here...go after Chad Johnson, Dallas Clark, or Jevon Walker. Do something big! Now or Never!

  • I wonder if McNabb would have referred to the Patriots if it was the quarterback who got replaced in New England.
I agree with Donovan. Let's get playmakers. Let's start at quarterback. Lets invest in one who does't throw ball into the dirt or into the stands. Let's invest in one who isn't afraid to get the ball out, and doesn't continually get run down by big fat defensive lineman. Or one that doen't make all his receivers look bad because he cannot throw a quick and accurate pass. If we had a decent quarterback, we would quickly find out that we already have playmakers. In case you didn't notice Don, the Patriot won superbowls without those guys, because they had a great quarterback.
Let's invest ina quarterback that doen't whine about how he is disrespected when he is playing awful. Hey Don, it's not our fault you stunk up the field this year and last. But as fans, we deserve the have a team on the field that gives us the best chance to win. YOU DO NOT GIVE US THAT.

      HERE'S SOME STATS FOR YOU:
AJ FEELY: 5 TD 8 INT61.2 PASSER RATING
KEVIN KOLB: 3 ATTEMPTS 2 SACKS -2.7 YDS PASSING
      MCNABB: 19 TD7 INT89.9 PASSER RATING
CARSON PALMER 26TD 20 INT 86.7 PASSER RATING
      FARVE 25 TD 15 INT
VINCE YOUNG 9 TD 17 INT
BY MY CALCULATIONS MCNABB DIDN'T HAVE A BAD YEAR (CONSIDERING HE PLAY ON ONE LEG FOR HALF THE SEASON)
  • McNabb HAS playmakers. he just chooses not to pass to them. ex. Kevin Curtis, probably one of the most explosive WR's in the NFC

  • For the want of one more victory the Eagles could have been in the play-offs. It is really the coaches' fault in my mind. If Andy R. would have gotten a decent kick returner before they left Bethlehem in August, we would have beaten Green Bay. If the Defense hadn't fallen asleep in the last minute and a half of the Chicago game we would have won that one. If we would have kept Garcia to start the season until Donovan had recovered ,we would have won more. You could see McNaab's improvement in the last 3 games. He just wasn't healthy enough for most of the season. When I was at the Philly Auto Show in February of 2007, businesses had signs painted saying, "Please keep Garcia". Did ownership or coaching staff care? Nope. Would the Eagles have been better off if they had listened to the fan sentiment? Yep. It is very trying to remain an Eagle fan.

When they finally asked Reid about McNabb's blog, he sounded as if he was a bit ticked at Donovan. Reid said that it was uncommon for a player to comment on acquiring "new weapons" when it means his current teammates might lose their jobs.....it's going to be one crazy off season this year in the city of brotherly love.

Haters, haters, haters....You will all never learn. You all know absolutely nothing about the game of football. You were more than likely cut from your jr high team. You all loved Jeff Garcia. He does real well in the playoffs! Get real! Don is the real deal and when we surround him with the talent that the other Superbowl contenders have. It is ok. Let it go. It will be ok! I promise. Let go of all the hatred.

  • I am tired of this organizations arrogance. Even at 8-8 they still think they can sign nobody's and win. Now the excuses are coming from our overated coach...injuies. Well I guess that says it, he isnt doing anything this off season. I am glad Donovan finally said something, he should have years back when they were losing nfc championship games because they flat out had no playmakers other than Donovan, remember, Thrash, Small. If we had a couple of playmakers we may have had a superbowl title. Andy Reid is the most overated coach in Eagles hisorty. Yes he won divisions but look at the competition he faced in the NFC East. The Cowboys had Quincy Carter, Redsckins Jeff George and other terds, Giants had Danny Weurfull, and the Cardinals when they were there, well they were the Cardinals. The thing is if he were any kind of really good coach like everyone gives him credit for, He probalb y should have been to three superbowls and at least won one of them. Problem is, he isnt and he is a selfish, prideful egomaniac. Just look at this year, he has a horse in Westbrook and doesnt run him. This team hasnt had a kick returner in I dont know how long and it cost them a playoff birth this year. He just doesnt know what he is doing and because he is a company man the Eagles will never get rid of him. Honestly Donovan should leave not because he stinks but because he will never win here because the Eagles will not help him by giving him what it takes. I hope Donovan can go somewhere else and win. Does he hold the ball too long and make some bad throws? Yes, but lets look back at the A.J. Feeley games and then tell me you dont appreciate Donovan more after that mess. Compared to the other quarterbacks in the league, Donovan is in the top five. Its simple look at the penaltys and drafting and non signings, Andy Reid runs this team like he ran his family, and we see how that turned out.

  • Andy is a great coach, but he has too many hats. He needs to just coach, and not be the final say on the evaluation of draft picks, and free agents. I wish Tom Modrak were still in town, he is an excellent evaluator of talent. Oh and Dill_ Pickle some fans like me love Mcnabb and want him to continue to be the best quarterback in Eagle history. Mcnabb is the man.

    McNabb brings the drama?

You really don't have a hold on what's happened through the past 9 seasons do you?

First Rush Limbaugh took shots at him, then the TO saga because he is a self-centered cry-baby at times, and the injuries cause drama that are beyond a person's control. How has he caused drama? He's been reserved and well-spoken with class 90% of the time.

    Open your eyes.

    • Open your eyes !!!
When TO said that we would have won with Brett Favre, McNabb cried out "I wish I was compared to a black quarterback" Is being a racist bringing drama? I think so. When Dopnovan obviously stunk this year, the fans reacted and he cried "I get no respecct". What a wus. This is the NFL. You have to play wee. He didn't. So he got bood. He is the one who made that situation dramtic. Nobody else.
  • missliss412
I am a die hard Steeler fan, But what Mcnabb is saying is sooo damn true! There is only one word I can think of when it comes to some of these critics (if thats what you would want to call them) is a HATER! Let the man be! Hes speaking the Truth!

  • McNabb was right on! The reason we stunk it up at 8-8 was injuries, some inconsistent play and a bunch of missed plays. I would never argue that Brady isn't good - he's great, but the reason he looks even better is b/c of some of the phenomenal plays made by his receivers. Did anyone notice the year we had TO (one of the best receivers in the game, attitude aside) was the year we went to the Super Bowl? #5 You're the best! I'm with you 100% and rooting for you all the way! Best of luck in everything!

Well I'm glad he spoke up once again. The man is 30 coming of major surgery I cant believe the FO smugg ass approach during last years off-season saying you have no glaring needs. AR and his stupid arse drafts a QB that we could've gotten in latter rounds instead of a WR, or a better DB than CJ Gaddis which many scouts said should've stayed another year in school because his technique was flawed.

I'm tried of them getting these lame 2-3 year project players instead of getting people that can pay immediate dividends. I wish Jeff Lurie would stop being so damn cheap and take control of his team and bring in some players to help Westbrook and McNabb out. They're not getting any younger and we all know once a defense contains Westy our offense just dies out. I wish Lurie would be a little more like J. Jones and get involved with his team, instead of playing captain planet. We're tired of hearing how many NFCCG we've been to we have no ring or rings, so I dont care. Time to get the job done and put up or shut up.

  • hey philly fans check the eagles record the last three seasons that mc nabb started
the eagles have a winning record the last three seasons with their so called back up quarterbacks and a losing record when mcnabb starts last year the eagles were totally flying south and almost immediatelyafter garica took over the whole team started to play better and win thats he cries he has no quality players he has had one of the best offensive lines TO the best wr and stallworth the eagles need a quarterback and a coach who knows you only get three timeouts a half
    Sign In/Register to reply
  • First off i would like to say that i full support donovan mcnabb. He's a classy quarterback and he really doesnt bring drama to himself. Second of all he's right in say that philly needs weapons. Reggie Brown had a mediocre year and is a number 3 receiver at best. Kevin curtis had his best year as a wide receiver and he's not a legitmate number 1, he's more of a number 2. If Philidelphia got a legitimate number 1 receiver to make big plays and draw defenders away from westbrook, brown, and curtis it would open the game up dramatically for the eagles. Personally i think fitzgerald, wiiliams, stallworth or moss would be an amazing add for Donovan. He deserves it.

I can't blame McNabb at all for the comments. They knew when he came back this year that he wasn't ready, but still didn't get him much help as far as WR/TE to take the pressure off. It must have been rough hearing some of the bad reactions from the fans when he was playing injured and had less help than in previous years. Hopefully, the front office will listen to D-Mac since they don't seem to listen much to the fans.

  • look this may be wish full thinking, but rumor (rumor i am not claiming this to be true) has it Chad Johnson wants outta cinnci due to a housh getting the attention lately (probowl selection) but getting a peice of the pie may be hard to do and we would have to give away alot to receive him.. (brian dawkins i am thinking?) and another receiver who has already been public and wants out is javon walker since this is a definate situation i beleive reid needs to go out and trade out 1st rounder for this man i know he is older and didnt have a good season but he is great and not a poison to his locker room.. remember what we did last time the eagles had a wr threat

And let's quit complaning about Reid (although I DO get tired of his "I didn't get the team prepared well speech 2 times each year after they get POUNDED by an inferior opponent). They DID go to 4 consecutive championship games and got to the big dance once. This year was BAAAAD but it was one year. before we declare the team dead, let's see what the do in the off season... but if they do the James Thrash Train to Philly thing, then even I will start to wonder

  • As a Redskin fan i dont want to see philly with a good WR i could see Javon Walker fitting in well because of Reid offense, i would be hating to see Larry Fitz and Mcnabb twice a year although i think with are new soon to be head coach Greg Williams i can see us stoping anyone... Greennwhite,no disrespect but, you're nuts if you think the eagles should give up Dawkins. You know how hard it is to get a shut-down safety in this league?! Dawkins is the one that makes it possible for the Eagles to blitz and still play man to man. Also, since losing Trotter, he's been playing the role as the run stopper as well. There has to be another way.

  • The Eagles finished 8-8 because of three people: Lurie, Reid and McNabb.
McNabb because he wasn't healthy enough to play 3/4s of the season. And at 100%, he's a mediocre QB at best. He's not a selfless person or he'd have taught Kolbe like Doug Pederson taught him. And maybe, just maybe, we'd all be sitting here wondering if it was gonna be us knocking off the Cowboys this week instead of the Giants.
Reid because he has too much faith in his own play-calling abilities and his loyalty to his unpopular first ever draft pick and his system. When the highlight of your career as a coach is a 23 yard reception by Fred-X against Green Bay, it's time to think "I may need to tweak a few things."
And Lurie for not even thinking "Hmmm. I wonder what an indepedent GM would cost?"
I for one don't want to see us win the Lombardy Trophy with a fading QB and an aging team. I'd rather tell them Dallas fans "Until you've won as many trophies as us, STFU."

PLAY CALLING!!!! ..Thank you flyersrock. Here is the Blue Print to Fix the Birds.

    1. Fire Marty Morningwig
    2. Get a High Profile DB ( Deangelo Hall)
    3. Must research these college recruits a lot BETTER!!
    4. Let the BIG GUYS ON THE O LINE BEAT UP DEFENSES!!
    5. Must get top flight receiver. I heard Jamie Dukes say Chad Johnson was available for the right price.
    6. Franchise L.J. and that will give him a chance to get a full and healthy season under his belt and either sign him next year or let him go and by that time Celek will be ready.
    7. BANNER, LURIE, REID WAAAAAAKE UUUUPPP (thats from the movie school days) . LOL
    8. ANDY GO BACK TO PLAY CALLING!!!!

McNabb is one of the best quarterbacks in the league right now. Coming back from an injury and defense still can't handle him I mean come on, whose better than that? Donovan McNabb is! He is staying with the Philadelphia Eagles, because trading him to another team is just INSANE!! Everyone who disagrees thats ya'll opinion but I'm sticking with mines =]

  • People are way to hard on McNabb, he's been injured the past 2 years so he hasn't played a full season since 2005. It was amazing that he came back when he did from the acl injury. He'l be close to where he was playing 3 years ago by next season, he finished the year strong, and that will carry over. The eagles should try to bring in a receiver like bernard berrian, or MAYBE try to bring in Chad Johnson. Bringing in a big name receiver will help i think mainly to open up Kevin Curtis, and Reggie Brown. Defenses already have their eyes on Westbrook all game, so if they have to pay attention to someone like chad johnson as well as westbrook, the eagles could go all the way. They also need to bring in a good kick returner, which they should probably try to do in the draft.
