Most people would look at the only two losses gsp suffered and say GSP is obviously the better fighter. True. Totally true. GSP fought hughes can came back stronger and lost to serra and came back much stronger smashing those in his way. Gsp learned from those losses and came back a better man.

So how is Gsp superior to bj penn as an ultimate fighter? Intelligence. BJ Penn as a youth was a scappy kid, a bully and we all know bullies are full of fear. GSP as a youth takes on martial arts to help overcome bullies so he can defend himself from the cowards who pick on smaller guys like bj penn. So what followed after in the two careers of these youths? Gsp went on to fight the best in his weight class - bj penn foolishly jumped all over the place and most of his losses come from bigger guys, his lack of intelligence was his downfall. Gsp is quickly becoming the best welter weight of all time, probably the most popular mma fighter in the world and why.......intelligence. The sad thing is bj penn is good, well he's no gsp but he could make it far and should focus on being the best lightweight of all time as we've seen how he does in other weight clases....not so good.

The point is, when you go to war pretty much all martial arts instructers will tell you your mind is your greatest weapon and to fight with intelligence rather than might..outsmart your enemy, gsp has overcome great obstacles, his embarrassing loss to serra and ran through all his next oppents, they said his last three were his toughest to date and he owned those guys. Bj penn was a broken man after his humiliating one sided beating by the greater fighter...gsp and bj planned on retiring like a coward after he won, holding both titles, only a coward wouldn't defend his belt, run away back to hawaii. Gsp stopped such foolishness and made penn and honest man an defend his title like a man.

Gsp is greater than bj penn as an ultimate fighter. The greatest fighters in the sport today are the most intelligent etc randy couture/st.pierre/machida there all smart fighters. Thats why gsp will always be greater than bj penn, bj will never get it.
