Serra admits his loss then shares his views on GSP vs PENN @ UFC 94 Very Unbiased Serra is the man
Q:Speaking of St. Pierre, some words of yours gained a bit of traction online about the way his skin felt after BJ Penn made his statements about GSP feeling slick. What did you think of BJ Penn vs. GSP?
Serra:As I said before, BJ had legs to stand on for that. If I'm going to be on here saying, "Oh, he was slick when I fought him," it looks like sour grapes. It looks like a guy that lost is just trying to make an excuse. The athletic commission didn't grab him and say they saw him greasing between rounds or anything when I fought him, so I'm not going to start bringing up anything like that. When I fought St. Pierre the second time, I lost, period.
BJ, he has legs to stand on in that whole argument because they did catch the guy rubbing it on his back. You can't really blame a guy. Shoot, the guy got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. What are you going to do?
Q:From what you could tell watching the fight, do you think it made that much of a difference?
Serra:If they fought again, would it go down the same way? Who's to tell? Does it make a difference when a guy's slippery and you're trying to work your guard? The guy's slippery with or without Vaseline, but you put a little grease on there and you spread it around, that definitely could make a difference. Did it? I don't know. Could it? Yeah, it sure could. That's pretty much it, you know?
Will he be taken down again in a future fight? Most likely, yeah. But could he be more effective off his back? That's what it really comes down, if he's less slick. It (slickness) definitely doesn't make things easier for him.
