What's the solution to close decisions?

I 've said it before and I'll say it again. Although it was a very close fight, I had Machida winning by close decision. Even though the compustats have Rua throwing more strikes. Does it mean he actually won the fight. The 10 point must system has had it's fair share of bad calls in the fight game. Not a perfect system by all means. So what should be next when it comes to a close decision. Should they wait a day and look at the fight over and over. Should they have instant replay. Or better yet, have sensors placed on their bodies that count the strikes along with the G Forces of these strikes. Perhaps the later would be the perfect solution. But just like baseball. I believe that just cause a team got more hits, it doesn't mean they won the game.

Fighting isn't like baseball CC. Personally in the case of UFC 104 I'd have that fight reviewed again and judged based on the current rules. Based on the current rules I think the fight should be changed as a win for machida to a no contest(judges screw up). The fight was close enough to call an immediate rematch. That way Rua wouldn't be stuck with an L and machida won't be given a W he didn't earn.

By the way CC compustrike stats show that Rua landed more strikes than machida... not just thrown as your leading the reader to believe. The fact that Shogun actually landed more strikes AND had octagon control, not to mention at times looked as if he had machida both on the run and hurt is the reason most believe Rua won.

how about a coin toss to determine who gets to take a free shot at the other fighter.....whoever can't stand up on the count of 10 loses.

Like a shoot out in Hockey. That's genious.(LOL)

My reference to baseball is an "analogy" babe and not "literal".
I like your reviewing the fight call. Something like another set of judges when it's such a contested result. Btw, brain fart on my part.
I ain't no Joe Rogan.(LOL) Like my analogy says. "a team with more HITS". So I didn't mean to lead any reader to believe anything. It's just a question for conversation and not confrontation.

They should have former fighters as judges... throw Bas in there with someone that thinks he's the best out so that you know he will not lean towards one or the other like ummm Frank Shamrock. Not sure who the 3 could be..oh sht put big John McCarthy in.. I think everyone is focusing on the striking element and everyone has thrown out Octagon control and agression. Machidas point striking would've worked well against an opponent that was head hunting or timid in which wasn't the case with Rua ...but hey he said he was "Superior" so umm yea he has the belt

Not every one ByAnywear, I've mentioned octagon control and aggression in nearly all my comments concerning this fight.

Yeah, Bas is a preaty good commentator. I wonder how they score octagon control and agression. Control, I kind of understand but agressiveness. Geez, Guida would win every fight base on agressiveness alone. (LOL)

I believe BYanyWear has the right idea. It's the judges that are the problem. "never leave it in the hands of the judges" so very true.
