Michael Phelps Debacle = NOT okay, America.
It's about time to start cleaning F-ing house in the U.S.
I'm getting really sick of watching America hold people to impossibly high standards and then ride the entertainment value of their demise all the way down the shiny, money making drain.
Michael Phelps is an extraordinary athlete; to destroy his career based on something that should be, largely, none of our business - is not only sadism - but no one is gaining from this equation. Isn't America tired of lose-lose situations yet?
2008 was the year of the American lose-lose phenomenon and I was hoping we'd figure that out for 2009. We have been so busy getting up on the rest of the world that we managed to destroy our housing markets and, ultimately, our whole economy. Now we want to bring down our athletes too?
Keep going America.
Let's focus on greed, Wall Street.
Let's commit the cardinal business sin of looking backward, not forward, Chevrolet and Ford.
Let's ruin our young athletes and celebrities instead of offering help and support for the personalities that, in some ways, keep a dim light of hope and excellence lit.
Hey America - give me a ring when you figure out where that gets you.
