Lloyd Carr should be fired

It has been a hot debate for months and now it should happen. Lloyd Carr can't win when it matters. Jake Long,Chad Henne and Mike Hart all came back for a senior year to play for this guy hoping to win a national title and what do they get? They turn down millions and lose to Appalachian State the first game of the year. If you're a Michigan fan you would also notice this isn't the only team that Carr struggles with that ends in State. Now Michigan will be out of the polls and will be lucky to finish in the top 25. Plus the defensive coordinator who people thought should replace Carr, didn't do to great either. So when they say the Big ten is decided when Michigan plays Ohio State the last game of the year. They are wrong. The deciding game will be November 3rd when the Wisconsin Badgers travel to Columbus to play the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Good thing Bo Schembechler wasn't alive to see this.

You have to fire the guy, the only questions are when to pull the trigger and who to put in his place? Certainly not the defensive coordinator.
Losing to OSU is one thing, nobody likes it but at least the OSU teams are top tier.
Nothing against App State but losing to them at home is unacceptable.
The reality is that Michigan is too arrogant a program to fiire a guy mid-season. That's an SEC thing (or I should say, "thang") and Michigan would prefer to let you believe that football is second to academics.

The only thing that will save Carr is to run the table, including OSU and to win a BCS bowl, Anything short of that and he'll "decide to retire in order to spend more time with his family."

  • I sent an email to President Coleman asking her to fire Lloyd Carr. Her email address is presoff@umich.edu
Flood her inbox with requests for his firing. The text of my email says it all . . .
    President Coleman,
As I sit here in disgust following the first football game of the season,I am compelled to write to you and ask you to please fire Lloyd Carr before the next football game.
Countless Michigan fans have been repeatedly disappointed by his lack of leadership, coaching abilities and decision-making.
Michigan's football players are some of the most talented in the nation. Michigan did not lose the game today, or the last bowl game, or repeatedly to Ohio State because they lack talent. Michigan continues to lose games they should not because Lloyd Carr is out-coached.
I am disappointed that Lloyd Carr's failure to be the coach Michigan deserves is something that continues year after year.
Succinctly, Lloyd Carr is a failure.
Can you even fathom how disappointed so many of us are? Please make Lloyd Carr's dismissal your first priority. He is a Michigan disgrace. For the first time in my whole life, I am considering turning my back because...as a fan...I have been let down by Lloyd Carr too many times. Please restore
Michigan football to glory by hiring a coach who can do the job the right way.

Wow. I've never heard of a coach getting so much heat after the first game of the season, but Carr probably deserves it.
    • MichFaninWV. The reality is that Michigan has been overrated for several years and they prove it everytime they play a nationally ranked opponent. Although App State is a lower tier football program, they are a championship team and they played like it. There comes a point in time when you have to question the character of a team. The coach can't run, pass or play special teams, it comes down to the players and they did not have the character to win when it counted. I am not saying that Lloyd Carr is totally without blame and I am not a Carr fan, but the players have been believing their press clippings and running their mouths. Look back at last years OSU game. After the game the running back, whose name escapes me at the moment, said he wanted to come back to beat OSU and bad mouthed them. How is he going to beat OSU? Talk them to death? If you don't belive that to be the case then look at Braylon Edwards with the Cleveland Browns. He has run his mouth the past 2 seasons and can't back it up. I would have traded Edwards during the off season, lets see if he can finally live up to the hype. MIchigan may possibly lose 2-3 conference games this year and Lloyd Carr will be gone, but it will be a few years before Michigan becomes promenent again if they lose 3 conference games because recruits will stay away.
  • Yeah, that's a great idea!! I emailed her as well.

  • It doesn't really matter who they hire, OSU owns Michigan.

remember michigan owned osu before tressel so it does matter. carr should have been gone long ago, certainly after wasting all his talent in the rose bowl. he overlooked app state in an interview before the season started and made sure his team did too today. he needs to be gone

  • I've always said before the beginning of the season that Lloyd carr must beat our 3 main rivals and win a bowl game in order to keep his job, and I still stand by that. Ths was a good reality check for U ofM. If they can lose to App. State, its just as possible for us to come back and salvage a good season. As we all know, college football is filled with unpredictability.

Its a very sour feeling in Ann Arbor; everyone is drunk and upset but there's still 11 games to go

If those players came back to win a national championship then they should win it. Carr can't suit up and play and even if he didn't prepare his team they should've beaten App. St. on talent alone.

  • I can't believe what I'm reading - fire Lloyd Carr? Michigan fans don't get it. Comparing carr to Schembechler is hilarious. I know this is heresy, but Bo never won an outright national tile (Carr has), never finished unbeaten and untied (Carr has) and Bo lost every major game he coached other than a couple wins against Ohio State. Sorry Blue fans, but Bo was terribble in the Rose Bowl. You're crazy for trying to get a guy fired who had a streak of Bowl wins never seen in Michigan history. By the way Carr's winning percentage is just a fraction below Bo's and he's played more big games.

  • Michigan fans are the arrogant, whiny little bitches i know....and besides they suck at football...i don't blame lloyd for all of it...besides it is a team game....i would say your great talented bunch. Hart, Henne, Long...just can't get it done...all i seen on sat. is hart getting yanked back by someone from michigan cause he wanted a piece of OSU and then he can't even get 50 yds rushing....i didn't here him promise a victory like he did against a depleted young Notre Dame team....That Guarantee was a joke anyways.....Michigan sucks they will always be OSU's Bitchs

  • Why do you people blame the coach, how stupid. The players are the ones that play the game. How insane are you to blame the coach. He has been a good coach all these years. Michigan has a bad year and you blame Carr. He isn't the one that drops the ball, throws a bad ball or what ever happens on the field, wake up fools
