Report: Eagles make offer for Fitzgerald

CLICK the link for the full article & sorry if this is a double post !! The Larry Fitzgerald-to-the- Eagles trade scenario takes on new intrigue daily, with a report surfacing Friday that the Eagles have submitted a trade offer to Arizona to obtain the Pro Bowl wide receiver. The Cardinals and Fitzgerald have hit an impasse in contract renegotiations, according to The Arizona Republic, which also reported that the Eagles have offered cornerback Lito Sheppard and wide receiver Reggie Brown as trade bait with hopes of forcing the Cardinals to deal away the wideout if they can't reach an agreement to restructure his contract

I think giving up Lito, Reggie, and a pick is a little much (not that I wouldn't do it, but maybe they can possibly get Roy from Detroit. Here's a article involving him.

If we can do this and keep the Draft Picks.......could work out well.......we will have to draft a corner at 19
    Sign In/Register to reply
    • why do we have to draft a CB at 19? we have Samuel and Sheldon, we don't need a CB until the later rounds, we would need to draft a Safety if we were to draft anything for the secondary.

Come on EAGLES lets get this done now!!! Even though I think keeping reggie will make our offense that more explosive, I would do this RIGHT NOW!!! We need Fitz for D-Mac. Get r done!

  • how is giving up lito, brown and a pick too much?????? we dont need lito anymore, we wouldnt need brown if we can get larry, and the draft pick is where i might agree, but it depends what number pick it is....if its a 1 id do it because larry is a proven player with proven talent sooo lets just get him already

  • who would be a third WR?

We have three number 3 wide outs, already just no number 1.

If we were to give up lito, brown and a second I would be happy. I don't think it is much at all to be honest to get a 24 year old stud who is one of the best in the NFL. I would like to see the eagles draft a safety or another WR in the first round.. maybe desean or mario manningham to fit a scond or third WR spot.. then in the third round and on start taking other positions. Although i believe our tackles are getting old i think you can move andrews to tackle and put Jean Gilles at tackle for the time being..

  • Yea i would rather have reggie than avant in there but it would be worth it to have fitz.... Oh by the way i saw the article on larry last night while i wa at the gym and it said that the cardinals only have 16 players on defense! And this why why my friends the cardinals will alwyas be at the bottom lol

  • Reggie and Lito are definately a good deal for Fitz... how would we be giving up too much? Ur giving them a backup corner and an underachieving WR. We dont need Reggie... #1 Fitz, #2 Curtis (maybe in slot) then whoever 3rd, doesnt really matter then LJ at TE, good enuff for me.

Can't we trade our 1st round pick and Brown. I love Lito and when healthy he, Asante, Sheldon, and Dawk would make an unstoppable secondary.
    Sign In/Register to reply
    • 5forlife, i love lito as well but you said the magic words, when healthy. Bottom line is he just isn't healthy. He hasn't played a full season in a while. Also, moving Sheldon to safety is an uncertain move. He is a corner who is used to covering receivers, not half of the field. Although Reid said that he certainly could play safety, are we willing to live through him getting beat deep a few times till he learns the position? I would rather trade lito and keep our 1st round pick.
    • i dig lito too, u aren't the only one 5forlife!!! but yeah like jbyrd24 said cant' stay healthy :(
  • cowboykilla520
but if lito waas getting rest and wasnt in constantly mybe he coould stay health

  • Here is the scenario:
-LIto wants more money or out
-The Eagles want a true number one WR
We can hopefully please both parties. The Eagles will make this happen. They are trying to make a deal without giving up the house. If we can't get the job done, Lito will be traded for a draft pick problaby a 2nd. This is the situation I would like to see the least. I hope the team ponies up and gets a deal done. The Lions and Cardinals would love Lito, but we need to add enough to get the deal done. Throwing in Reggie Brown fills a receiver vacancy. They need to give up some picks to nail this down. The team nucleus is aging and if they are committed to making a run with this squad (McNabb, Westbrook, Dawkins, Runyan and Tre) it has to be NOW. Everyone relax, something will happen.
Fitzgerald is no longer negotiating. If Arizona says they are willing to pay him for this year, they also have to know that he will be gone next year (as they can not fulfill the $18 million he will be due then). If you are running this team, you have to see the writing on the wall and see how you can turn a bad situation into a good one by bringing in two quality players with low salaries and draft picks to reshape a suffering squad.
Fitzgerald holds all of the cards and he knows that if he does not re-negotiate that he will be traded. He can't speak about it publicly or he looks like a bad guy. His actions of not trying to work on a new deal is enough that we should believe he is forcing a move. The Eagles can not also admit to working on a trade because he is under contract with Arizona.
If you look at it rationally from both sides this will happen. I think Arizona is holding up to try to sweeten the deal from Philadelphia. Stay tuned... I predict it is done within a week and Larry is an Eagle.
