Flames sign young prospect
The Calgary Flames signed their 1st pick, 24th overall, in the 2007 draft,18 year old centermen, Mikael Backlund. He has shown great offensive skills while playing in and for his native Sweden. He scored the game winning goal in overtime in this years IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship semi final against Russia. Sweden ended up winning silver in that tournament. Also he is ranked 2nd among European prospects.
