Pettitte forced to leave early

After Astros lefthander Andy Pettitte threw a first-pitch fastball (83 mph) to Preston Wilson in the third inning Tuesday night at Busch Stadium, Pettitte and catcher Brad Ausmus immediately realized something was wrong. His next pitch was a 1-0 cutter, and Wilson ripped it for a two-run homer. As a fantasy owner who started him, don't you just wish he took himself out of the game after that first pitch? Pettitte, who was scratched Monday and pushed back to Tuesday because of the left ankle he twisted Saturday, might have hurt the elbow compensating for the ankle.
