The Salsa's Gone Bad

Jose "The Salsa" Valverde blew the save for the Houston Astros Tuesday night against the Phillies, surrendering four earned runs on 3 hits and a walk, while only making one out in the bottom of the 9th. He struck out two batters - Geoff Jenkins, however, reached on base on a passed ball after he struck out. Jenkins would be the winning run on a double by new Philadelphia third baseman Pedro Feliz. This is Valverde's second blown save of the season. His lone save came against the Cubs, when he managed to give up just ONE run. Following Tuesday's game, he has a 12.79 ERA.
