This guy's marriage proposal went to hell in a hand basket

What usually happens when a guy proposes to a girl at the game: the guy slides the ring on his intended's finger, they kiss enthusiastically. What happened the other night at an Astros game: the woman looked surprised, then mad at the sight of the ring, either spilled her popcorn or dumped it on the gentleman's head and left amid a chorus of boos. It was nice of the Chron to not put the guy's name in the paper, it's probably online somewhere, but I don't want to find it. Leave the guy alone.

I always wondered why that didn't happen more often. It's good to see the fans treat that dude respectfully. Ill bet fans in the Bronx would have done the same.

Nice, he deserves some help unless he's a complete loser who tells every girl he loves her after he sleeps with her.
  • Come on, we're all siding with him because we're guys, but he was seriously probably being an idiot. She didn't just not want to marry him, she was pissed off. If she just didn't want to marry him, she'd say yes or maybe or something and then say no later in order not to embarrass him. He prob asked her on their second date or something.

My ex asked me to marry him, but we had just gotten into this huge fight a couple of hours before and I tried to break up with him, so he went and bought a ring...thinking that would help. Guys are silly sometimes. They think that if they put the girl on the spot she might change her mind.

Haha...I know if I proposed to my gal at the game I might just get the same response...but then again, I know that ahead of time.

  • Lets look at things from a females perspective. If you have been waiting for Mr. Right all your life, you most likely have dreams about how a perposal should be like. How friggen romantic is it to be proposed to at a damn sports event. Where's the class! Where is the Romance? Gee, a ring, popcorn and a bunch of sweaty people cheering him on? Oh Yippe!
Now there is one man who did it right. He took me to Colorodo and proposed to me at Estes Lake. He waited for the best day of our trip. He was romantic, he was thoughtful and he showed women how romance should be done.
To the guy who blew it at the ball park...next time take notes!

For a guy its a huge leap to do the whole "proclaim your love in front of tens of thousands of people", and that hurdle is what we think would be the romantic aspect of it all.... something a guy probably isnt inclined to do when not "crazy in love".

Though yeah, it could have been a second date and the guy was just an idiot =]

I think we are looking at this all wrong, I think he wanted to break up with her so he came up with one of the most creative ways ever thought of to do it. He also took a huge risk, if she had said yes she's around for years to come.
Melissa, did Mr. Romantic get a yes or did he just do something romantic and spend alot of jack?
  • He got a "YES" and now we have three beautiful children! He is still romantic too, even if he did want to take me to see Roger Clemens pitch his 4000th K and 300th win. Later though, he took me on a cruise followed by a Broadway show of Phantom of the Opera.
