Is Jodie Meeks The Best SG in College Hoops?
Rivals.com?thinks so, they have Meeks ranked #1 out of all shooting guards in the Nation, ahead of the likes of Manny Harris, E'Twaun Morre and Lester Hudson. Well should Meeks be the ranked as the top SG in the country? Well for one thing Rivals lists Curry as a Point Guard which I don't think is accurate. Sure they said he was going to make the switch and he has play some point this season, but you can still see that he is way more effective when Brendan McKillop is running the point, so I say Curry is more of a Combo Guard. Despite the high scoring for Meeks he still only comes in as the #89th best NBA draft prospect by?Chad Fordand he is rank as the 20th best?Shooting Guard?. It is important that these rankings, are projecting draft stock, not ability as a college player, other wise Tyler Hansbrough would be higher than 22nd. As for the numbers, Meeks is averaging 24.8 ppg, which translates to 30.6 points per 40 mins. Also he is shooting 47% from the field and 42% from three. Meeks has had some big scoring outputs this year against, VMI (39), Kansas St. (37), Appalachian St. (46) and most recently Tennessee St. (32). On the flip side, aside from one big game against KSU he has scored over 20 against a team from a BCS conference. He scored 19 against West Virginia and UNC, he managed just 13 against Indiana and just 10 against Miami (FL), both of those where home games too. Well I want your input on wether or not Meeks is as good as the good people at Rivals say he is...
