Kentucky's Seniors: Where's the Love?
Joe and Ramel have had decent careers at UK. Bradley's freshman year was a pretty good one. He didnt play a whole lot, but when he did, he was scrappy and contributed quite a bit to the team. Joe on the other hand didnt really take to Tubby's teaching style at first. He had a slight attitude problem at that age. He thought about transferring, but changed his mind soon after. From their sophomore years, both of them have been counted on to do more than what they should have been. We didnt have the quality players around them that it takes to play great team ball. The result was they played selfishly at times because they thought the team needed them to score in order to win. They played that way their sophomore and Junior seasons. A lot of the blame goes on Tubby for that because he didnt teach them how to play the right way. Coach G comes in and in his first season, he has both guys playing much more as a team, and broken a lot of bad habits from both players. Benching them earlier in the season was part of Coach's plan and it worked. Both Joe and Ramel have played very well since SEC play started. They have put up huge numbers and have meant more to this team than anyone not named Patterson. Without them, we would be winless in the SEC. They deserve our praise for their efforts, as well as the heart they have shown on the court. They give it their all. The people that are bashing them because it took this long to reach their potential, is unfair. They are just kids. They needed to be taught how to play team basketball. Coach G has done that, and the results speak for themselves. I only wish they had one more year at UK. I'm sure Coach G does as well.
