FSU's Bobby Bowden may be asked to retire soon
As FSU continues to slide, the website "RetireCoachBowden.com" has gained momentum and ESPN reports that boosters are now asking the president of the school to step in and ask Coach Bowden to retire. With their recent 24-19 loss to #21 Boston College, the Seminoles have now lost 7 of their last 12, and are sitting in last place in the ACC at 2-3. This may be the most telling fact that the 'Noles have slipped; they used to run over the ACC like it was a bunch of high school kids. In all fairness, the ACC is no longer a laughingstock of a conference, but FSU has definitely fallen off. Much of the blame has been placed on his son, offensive coordinator Jeff, and his play calls have been scrutinized for 5 seasons now. I respect what Coach Bowden has built at FSU, but he must realize that what he built is also crumbling at his hands. I agree with the claims that Bowden rarely even coaches during games, during the Miami game I noticed that Bowden rarely had a headset on, and when he did, it was for maybe 10 seconds. He seems much more like an observer than a coach, and he rarely is seen talking to players anymore. Bowden's time has come, and I just hope that Seminole fans are respectful enough to not make this delicate situation into something ugly, because that is the last thing Bowden or FSU deserves after his great run.
