Chan Gailey out as Georgia Tech coach

The coach was fired after 6 seasons today, in which he went 44-32 but never once beat rival Georgia. Gailey seemed to clash with big time boosters and wasn't making the kind of impression upon the Atlanta sporting scene that the Yellow Jackets needed to be a top program. Although he has about 4 years left at $1 million annually, the Athletic Department decided it was too risky to keep upsetting powerful boosters than to take the $4 million hit.
