Fall Ball- Questions and Inferences

I have already re-read Cane Mutiny and Meat Market by Bruce Feldman in the past 24 hours, along with some other fine literature (I thoroughly enjoyed Steinbeck's "The Winter of our Discontent", although I am not sure I completely understood the ending).
