Carolina Sacks John Bunting as Coach
The tragedy that is North Carolina football took a turn this weekend, as they fired Coach John Bunting. Bunting had lead the Tar Heels to a 25-42 record in his 6 years at his alma mater, but the numbers didn't add up to success. The former Tar Heel linebacker and captain had little to say about his dismissal, and speculation on his next job was minimal, as he stated "I'm not sure how much football I'll coach, if any, this is the place I wanted to be." The Tar Heels suffer from the syndrome that populates all big time sports schools; it's tough to be good at both basketball and football. The Tar heels just can't put a football program together, despite the fact that they have produced some very good players (Julius Peppers, Ronald Curry, Lawrence Taylor) in the past and have the athletic tools necessary to field a good team.
