Dantonio takes over Michigan State Spartans Football

In yet another coaching carousel move, John L. Smith has been replaced at Michigan State by Cincinnati coach Mark Dantonio. Smith was a lame duck coach most of this season due to the fact that the Spartans greatly underachieved. Despite having highly regarded QB Drew Stanton and other skilled players, Smith couldn't rally his troops after the heartbreaking loss to Notre Dame early in the season. Smith had been on the hot seat for awhile and this finally was the season that sent school officials over the edge. Dantonio led a surprising Cincinnati team, which just upset previously unbeaten Rutgers and took them out of the national title hunt.
