Joba Chamberlain put on the DL

Joba Chamberlain has been put on the disabled list by the New York Yankees. They've recalled pitcher Chris Britton from Triple-A to take Joba's place on the roster. How long Chamberlain is on the DL for all (he's on the 15-day right now with shoulder soreness) depends on how well his meeting with Dr. James Andrews went. Andrews is known for performing extensive arm/shoulder surgery so things don't sound so good right now for the Yankees and Chamberlain.

I smell an eventual Torn rotator cuff...don't wish it upon him as I want Sox to face him for years, but too much heat he throws with, and that nasty curve already taking it's toll...for baseball's sake though, hope he has good career...the guy can just flat out pitch

Orions....check your nose buddy! It's just tendinitis and a little rest and rehad will take care of it. I still think the Yanks ought to take a very cautious approach with this kid, even if it means keeping him out longer than the 15 days as he is their future and they can't mess it up and I just don't see the Yanks going to the postseason this year so there is no need to risk losing this guy right now. Yankee fans: we can all un-pucker right now....WHEW!

Tendinitis can be a precursor to worse things down line if not treated right was point...so he doesn't blow that shoulder out...this guy could be the most dominant AL pitcher the next 10 years easy, with his stuff...talent like he has, no matter who he plays for, has to be preserved for the good of the game...that's your long term ace...I still can't fathom that nasty Curveball he slings...anyways, like said, hope he is good to go for years after this setback

I agree. They wouldn't send him to see Dr. Andrews for no reason. Somebody had to have seen SOMETHING on that early MRI.

I caught myself giving Hank credit for pretty much putting Chamberlain in the starting rotation. I was wrong. Cashman and Girardi wanted to wait. Now look at Joba. In Hank's rush to follow in Daddy's footsteps he might have damaged Joba permanently. He definitely is going to Andrews for a reason. I agree with orions. I think it's a rotator cuff injury. This is a huge loss for the Yankees. Don't blame Ortiz's shirt! Blame Hank!
