Texas Debuts at No. 9 in BCS

When the BCS poll came out this weekend the Longhorns found themselves lower than they expected. The two human polls ranked Texas at 5, but the computer average placed them at 15. The computer is dragging down the Longhorns because of the relatively weak Big 12 conference that they play in. The only other Big 12 teams in the Top 25 are Nebraska at 17, Oklahoma at 22, and Missouri at 24. The SEC has four teams in the top 13, the Big 10 has has the No. 1 and 3 teams, and the Pac 10 and Big East have two teams each in the Top 10. Texas can improve their stock as the their opponents the rest of the season have better records than the opponents they have faced (25-21 vs. 23-10). The weak conference means Texas probably won't reach the National Title Game, but that was expected after their loss to Ohio State. Plus, Texas should win the Big 12, and will thus earn a spot in a BCS game.
