Cards Seeing Too Many Flags

Defense isn't the only problem first-year University of Louisville football coach Steve Kragthorpe has to get straightened out in a hurry. The No. 8 Cardinals (2-0), beginning to prepare for their annual battle with Kentucky next Saturday night in Commonwealth Stadium, have yellow flag issues, too. Sure, after allowing 555 yards total offense in a 58-42 shootout against previously powerless Middle Tennessee State Thursday night, defense is sure to be the main focus as UofL goes after its fifth straight win over UK. But Kragthorpe is also dismayed by the number of penalties his team has racked up in its first few games ? and the type. The Cards have been guilty of a number of personal fouls and their behavior and lack of discipline are reminiscent of the John L. Smith Era when UofL was among the most penalized teams in the country.
