Moneyball fans can invest in Beane
Great article by Tim Simmers in the Oakland Tribune about Billy Beane's appointment to the board of NetSuite, a small software company trying to get a market share in an arena dominated by evil empires like Microsoft and IBM. "NetSuite sells to small and mid-sized companies, helping them organize accounting, salesforce management, finance and other backroom tasks. The company thinks there's a connection there, too, since Beane does his magic for a small-market Major League Baseball franchise." Beane adds some star power to the NetSuite organization, which hopes to have an initial public offering later this year, although it's already majority-owned by Oracle founder Larry Ellison. So statheads, how much do you believe in Billy Beane? Enough to put some scratch down on the NetSuite IPO?
