Milt Thompson speaks: "Phillies lineup is horrible!"

During the middle of last night's win over the Nats the TV broadcast featured quotes from Phillies hitting coach Milt Thompson. He had this to say, "...I've never coached a team where the players underachieved their capabilities the way these players have this year." Gee, Milt, I agree in principle but aren't you the HITTING COACH?!?! Is it not Milt's job to help not only the veterans get out of slumps but also to facilitate the transition to the Majors for our younger players? I guess Bruntlett would not be an example of Milt Thompson's expert coaching techniques. Two years with Ryan Howard and every pitcher in the league still knows exactly what to throw to strike him out. Not to mention we have one of the worst lead off bats in the NL this year. Milt Thompson, like Jimmy Rollins, should probably stop giving interviews.

well in milt's defense boog they probably don't listen to him and take all the advice and throw it out the window when they get to the plate!!! egos are a terrible thing!!!! j-blow swings for the fence instead of trying to get on base like most lead off hitters are supposed to do!!! howard will swing at everything and god forbid that there be anyone in scoring position he won't try to hit a base hit either!!! they gotta realize that this isn't the american league or all star home run derby!!!! in the national league you manufacture runs!!! hell if i see runners in scoring position i'd be very happy with a double!!!

If they don't listen he should take list of roster stats and staple it to their face or make them wear their batting average with runners on base on the back of their jerseys. Look, Rich Dubee said Myers was struggling because he wasn't doing the the things he was being told. When Myers couldn't make it work his own way they sent him a message by sending him to the minors.Milt Thompson needs to be more aggressive with his players.Yell and scream, throw s*it around, bench someone, whatever it takes to get their attention.

i like the idea of wearing their avg. with runners in scoring position on their back!!! but maybe he it gets hot on the field during batting practice and needs a cool breeze from all the whiffs to cool hiim off!!!!

anyway not only are the phils driving all of us to drink we still have the eagles and temple to give us hangovers for the fall too!!!

Man I'm really glad to see you mention Temple.I am perhaps the most dedicated TU football fan ever.I was going to away games back when they were in the Big East.If you think I get irate at the pros you should hear me at a TU home game.I've had the same seats for their entire tenure at the Linc.Nearly got into a fist fight with Bobby Wallace, the douchebag ex-coach who would call the same play three times in a row and punt for entire quarters because he didn't care. Our row was responsible for an ESPNU broadcast crew having to move the microphones away from behind the Temple bench because of all the expletives and "encouraging" remarks aimed at the coaching staff.Back then there wasn't much security because there were only fifty people at the game. This year will be different. We are going to a bowl game. It's a lock.I'm ready, baby!!BRING ON ARMY!!!!!BRING ON UCONN WE WILL GET THAT GAME BACK THEY STOLE FROM US LAST YEAR!!!!

this truth will hurt Philly peeps! LOL!, as I know Boston isn't so liked of a Sports town to most of you guys, but I must confess a revelation I have had and must express spontaneously here and now...most of you sound exactly like Boston Fans!...and I'm not just saying that, truth...I just came to that conclusion a few days ago...both cities bleed themselves with self-inflicted brutality, while winning or not winning...theories? the bitter Northeast? the two key cities that started the American revolution? Bad friggin driving?...got me, but it's hysterical...we do the same Gdamn thing up here locally!...and I can't believe I just realized that! wtf!...ha

hey Booger, who was that Temple running back that tore it up in the late 80's/early 90's? wasn't it Paul Palmer...whatever happened to him? He was drafted, but didn't last long...anyways, Phillies Fans? you need to hang in there, your team is right there! for Christ sakes!, you all sound like Red Sox fans!, lol

What did he do last year that was so different? It must be an ego thing.Or an injury thing. Or I know...it's the frontrunning fan thing. Lil...pass the Greygoose please.

Again my comment was put in the wrong spot. I replied to 1.1.1 JEEZ!

You got it.Paul Palmer was drafted 19th overall by KC in 1987.He spent two years there, was traded to Detroit and then immediately traded to Dallas. He wasn't anything special offensively but excelled at special teams. He led the league in kick returning in his rookie season (923 yds 2 TDs).After that, his knees blew out.He returned to Temple as a special coaching assistant and later became a sideline reporter for the radio broadcasts.Unfortunately, ex-head coach and program derailer Bobby Wallace hated his open criticism of Wallace's inability to discipline the players and the ignorant SOB refused to allow Palmer to travel with the team which effectively ended Palmer's association with the program.
