Maybe this has Something to do with Peavy's Terrible Season

The man is legally blind without contact lenses. According to SignonSanDiego.com, "His prescription was changed during the Padres' spring training physical, but Peavy has had trouble having the order filled." Evidently, the company who supplied Jake with his contacts stopped making the lenses he needed. Why you would throw a 95MPH fastball without being able to see the target is another question. “I was putting signals everywhere, but Jake was having trouble picking them up...I thought we were going to have to go to smoke signals,” said Rob Bowen. Peavy received his contacts over a week ago. Despite having trouble with Colorado during his last start, Peavy had gone the previous six games without giving up more than three runs in any of them. In five of those six starts, he pitched at least 7 innings. He looks like a good play down the stretch.
