Struggling Giants Ready to Sell-Out!

After the Giants failed to salvage their weekend series against Boston, Brian Sabean acknowledged to reporters the possibility of a "fire-sale." Sabean also acknowledged the fact that he and the Giants' organization are not accustomed to being sellers at the July 31st trade deadline because they are so often in playoff contention. However, they now stand 8 games under .500 with a record of 30-38 and 10 back of the San Diego Padres, who right now are arguably the best team in the National League. The NL West, which has been the least competitive division in baseball over the past couple seasons, has become a powerhouse and now consists of 4 teams playing above .500 baseball. The Giants are the only team in the NL West below .500 and that does not appear to change any time soon, thus, the Giants have a cause for concern. Their lack of offense has caused Sabean to ponder the idea of trading Barry Bonds. Bonds claims his lone goal remaining in his career is to win a World Series, however, that goal seems nearly impossible being a member of the Giants. Sabean did rule out trading any young pitching prospects scuh as Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum among others.
