Demetrius Jones update: ND will NOT release QB from his scholarship
Notre Dame has been screwing with QB Demetrius Jones for a full year now. Charlie Weis gave him a false sense of hope by naming him the starter for the first game, and then pulling him after a poor 1st half. He decided, right before the Michigan game, to leave the team and transfer to Northern Illinois. He'll sit out a year and then have a shot at taking over that QB spot. All's well and good, right? Well today, ND Athletic Director Kevin White stated that the school will not release Jones from his athletic scholarship because the situation "wasn't handled properly". Well, let's be fair Mr. White, the QB situation wasn't exactly "handled properly" either, Weis jerked this kid around. Thus, he'll have to pay his way this year at N. Illinois, which I'm just guessing he wasn't banking on when he decided to transfer.
