Ravens Sign WR Bennett

The Baltimore Ravens have signed former
Titan and Ram WR Drew Bennett. This move was made most likely in
response to the shocking retirement of receiver Derrick Mason earlier
this month. While the signing of Bennett doesn’t solve the Raven’s
problems, it provides more depth at the position.

This comes during a series of workouts the
Ravens have recently held that has seen many receivers, including D.J.
Hackett, Chris Hannon, and Justin Brown all come through Owings Mills.
In addition to these workouts numerous rumors and reported interest
have also appeared. Most notably Joe Horn and Marvin Harrison. Horn’s
ability at his age came into question, and Harrison’s desire to still
carry a heavy price tag have eliminated the two as options.

Bennett, a 6′5″, 30 year old receiver from
UCLA, has 28 career touchdowns. Originally undrafted from UCLA, Bennett
has played for the Tennessee Titans and the St. Louis Rams.
This should ease the Ravens problems at wide receiver, and if Mason does come back, make their depth that much better.
