Cassel Roped Up By The Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel was signed, Tuesday, to a 5-year, $63 million deal with about $28 million guaranteed.

Cassel was drafted by former Patriots GM Scott Pioli. In the offseason, Pioli made it a point to bring Cassel in to KC.

Cassel happens to be the only starting NFL quarterback who did not start in college. At USC, he was the backup to Arizona Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart. Leinart was signed to a 6 year, $50.8 million contract back in 2006.

So, as you can tell, Cassel got the better end of the stick as far as the former USC duo is concerned and will be a solid foundation to build up the Chiefs.
