Here’s just one more reason why..

Ok Curt, let me first just start off by saying I love you as a pitcher, and think you're great for speaking your mind as a person...and agree with a lot of what you say. But to even put stock in these town hall meeting is silly to me at best, mainly because many of the people taking the time to go out and harass some of these politicians don't necessarilly represent the moral majority. I'm all for having a conversation about the cost, setup, etc. of this legislation, but why is it the loudest people in the room are always the majority? There are many people like myself that believe that healthcare reform is a very necessary thing to stop the bleeding that's happening right now, but we don't get heard to the same extent outside of election time because we're too busy working to foot the bill, and the limited opportunity for our voices to be heard is continually pushed aside by media coverage of people who don't even seem to have the facts straight in any efforts to have a real debate. I respect your opinion, and I despise the media coverage that drives "political capital" in our country, but the artical is representative of an unfortunate truth about the framework of our government as it exists today. Some of that truth is that the biggest voice we have is in the booth at election time, and many of us who can't be heard voiced our opinions there. The point to which this is covered in order to overshadow that basic truth is really what bothers me. In addition, if I gathered like minded people to scream at rallies, it's not a story on half of the networks because negativity fuels the media, and support doesn't often represent negativity. Keep that in mind when you consider running for a seat. I hope your influences would be driven more by your basic belief in the facts, which is why I believe the necessity of healthcare reform should overshadow this silly coverage. I'm already paying for a broken healthcare system, why can't we help some people out that aren't as fortunate as I am by putting our best foot forward and try to fix it?

Good luck with your future endeavors, and thanks for your time.

Sincerely,

George V
