Revenge on the Cards
So it’s Thursday night and after a wonderful evening involving a Yankees win (great game AJ!), I turn on the news and flick through my favourite internet pages only to see the war of words between my Jets and the Dolphins is heating up again in anticipation of this week’s AFC East rematch.
Everyone knows about Ryan and Crowder during the pre-season and we all expect this kind of mudslinging to pick up before a game, but the comments this week have perhaps gone too far. That is to say, both sides have gone too far.
On Will Allen being out for the season with a knee injury, Rex Ryan stated that we are missing people too, “so, boo hoo” – bit harsh maybe but no malice intended I’m sure. However, rather than being the bigger man, Miami’s favourite son, Joey Porter, decides to run his mouth again. On Sanchez’s hotdog incident of last week, Porter added that he “is trying to worry about how [he] can get [Sanchez] on the sideline. Maybe with an ice pack or something.” Nice. Will Allen being injured is a shame, I wouldn’t wish anyone on any team to be injured for a season, but did Porter need to go this far? Probably not. Oh well, it will only go to increase the atmosphere and the intensity of the game on Sunday.
Porter concludes by underlining the fact that the Dolphins and the Jets don’t like each other – nothing gets by him does it?!
