RAIDERS FIX 3 THINGS AND THEY WILL BE IN THE HUNT NEXT YEAR...

IN ORDER:

1. QUARTERBACK - Jamarcus is not the immediate answer--for whatever reason. Want to keep him, fine. He's a backup, learning.

2. OFFENSIVE LINEMEN - Have to keep the best and refill the rest. And make sure if right handed quarterback--the left tackle gets all the money he needs to sign.

3. NEW COACH - Cable just ain't it. Doesn't have "it". Too easily distracted from business at hand and prone to get tangled up in football unrelated crap. SUGGESTION: an Offensive Coordinator who has been successful in a Super Bowl in the last 3 years. 'LOVE to see Dennis Green here--IF an experienced Super Bowl Offensive Coordinator is not available. Any available?

Looks like Raiders will have decent picks this coming year, per record... SUGGESTION: GO AFTER OFFENSIVE LINE.... any number of experienced quarterbacks can be successful with a good line--and they are out there. Hell, even Jamarcus might work with some bad-ass protectors. But methinks another direction needs to be tried at the beginning of next year.

Great to see ya back, Bone. How about Mike Holmgren for new head coach? Course, you`d probably hafta off Al, as I`m not sure the two of them would get along. For one thing I haven`t heard of Mike, slam-bamming his wife lately.
How about Michael `Tricky` Vick at QB. He could teach Russell and maybe get him a gig financing rooster fights.
  • RAIDERBONE
holmgren would definitely be a step in the right direction. i am not sure vick helps the cause. i did not long ago--but it was more hope than common sense. i think they need an accurate passer with touch. who? truthfully, i have no idea. got any more suggestions?

garcia was, in my opinion, a better idea than russell. how the hell they screw that up.

garcia boned out because he didn't want to play back up qb to jamarcus. davis was, and probably still is, committed to russell because he doesn't want to admit he made a mistake. garcia was the answer to a half way decent season.

    1.)New Team
    2.)New Coach
    3.)New Owner

have Pat Croce become the owner of the team. He did what was looked as imposible. took the 76ers from nothing to the championship in a few years. He could do the same with Oakland
    • RAIDERBONE
MASTERBEAVIS---you got croce's phone number? call him, tell him to give al a call. his name doesn't inspire--but if he can move the oakland franchise back to glory--suddenly "croce" will have a nice ring in northern california...and the raiders will be back where they belong---ALWAYS IN THE MIX!
  • RAIDERBONE
pube--gotta disaree on the owner. i can imagine what you are probably gonna say about me--and i suspect it will not be kind...but i gotta stick with davis. i just wish he would get a coach like the one wheel--suggested--holmgren--and let the guy do his job. the coach i would REALLY WANT--and go after would be BILL COWER... BILL COWER, AL---LAND BILL COWER AND YOU WILL GO A LONG WAY TOWARD IMPROVING THE FRANCHISE...

The problem that will exist with any really good coaching prospect is that such men are `self making`, `self realizing`. You won`t see a Bill Cowher, Jim Fassel, or Mike Holmgren heading into East Bay, for the simple reason of Al`s record of interfering with coaching decisions. A really good man will insist on a non-interference clause in his contract, but even with that, Al`s rep will keep many from even entertaining the notion of going to Oakland.
Whatever he has been in the past, and his achievements are legendary, Al simply has to realize what most of the other owners already know, that the best coaches work the best when left alone. It`s a primary reason why those teams whose owners do interfere with their head coaches (Oakland, Washington, Dallas), have field generals who have less than wonderful records.
If I were Al, I think I might dangle some really decent money and the chance for `revenge` against Denver, in Mike Shanahan`s face and really try to get him. Hard as it may be for me, I`d divorce myself from the day-to-day field level decision making process.

Raid - I was just poking fun. You guys have some young raw talent, def would not change owners, hes a staple to the NFL. Front Office and coaching staff neads a full overhall. (My opinion)

at least the raiders can't lose this week.

wheelman--damn---you hae a job? cause we might start with someone like you as general manager. shanahan would be real interesting... he's gotta be burnin'--and coming to oakland would get EVERYBODY jabberin and exceited... not quite like favre to minnesota---but when oakland played the broncos next year---the place would be jumpin'... we need something to raise the level of excitement and expectation about the team--THAT is one of the reasons i mentioned cower---shnahan would get everybody rockin--and prognosticatin'... DAMMIT, AL--I HOPE SOMEBODY PUTS YOUR BIFOCALS on your nose and sticks this stuff in front of you--you owe your loyal fans, man... they deserve better... GET A DAMN COACH WHO BRINGS SOME FIRE... cable brings ********... boring--also-ran second choice--get a top flight guy who's been there before--you OWE YOUR FANS MAN... give their opinions a try---you can start with wheelman... otherwise--i just may have to give up raiderbone... and suggest the black hole and others do the same until you wake the hell up from your gotdamn snooze! you're killin our team, man--and it is OURS... act like it.
  • RAIDERBONE
and to pube and speed--any suggestions... we need folks givin this thing serious thought... maybe the radier brain trust looks in here...they need help--i guarantee--a few guys out there posting could do a better job running this team than how it is being done right now.... and that is sad to have to SERIOUSLY admit... wheelman being one...

I liek are chanceces agaisnt the Cowbyos. Janikowski will dleiver the blow.
    • RAIDERBONE
good thought, romorules---i think the raiders made a big first step in benching russell. while gradowski may not be brette favre, he is potentially no less effective than many starting nfl quarterbacks--tony romo (hope you are a romanowski fan, not tony romo--no offense intended)included. raiders have the ingredients, even on offense. i think russell was holding them back. a quarterback with brains and touch could make this team look like it did on paper. if that be the case, i think they will win the majority of the games they have left. i also STILL would like to see another coach brought in---i am still not sold on cable... primarily because he is still al's boy... i think to REALLY kick ass and go to super bowl in next couple of years--they need someone like bill cower, holmgren--why? because a stronger coach would have benched russell long ago. BEFORE the fans INSISTED! AND he would have made better choices on wide receiver than bey---who may sorta work out--but is not near as effective as crabtree--and others...
  • romorules
I agree with you Raiderbone. The Russell benching was needed. I don't care how much talent is on a team. You need a coach. We've been laughed at for a long time now but there is talent on this team. Shanahan may be a name to throw into the hat also. I hope we can get a good fan base on here again next year. When I first came on here there were many Raider fans but a certain punk from Philadelphia named HarryPotter drove them all out. We had a great cicle going. When the Raider barkers left I went ballistic. I blamed all of the Philly barkers but I shouldn't have. I went after all of them when I should have just targeted a few. I just used the same profile name I had on another site which was Romorules but I had Bill Romanowski's picture in that one. He's my favorite player of all time and a REAL RAIDER. I put Tony Romo who I can't stand as my photo on the yardbarker site and became a Cowboy fan to get back at the Eagle fans. HarryPotter is gone and the people who I fought with are now my friends. I've accomplished my goals. We need a great draft also Raiderbone. Take care dude. It's good to be back. Pat.
  • Correct! #1 Get all new players #2 Get a GOOD coach! #3 Change their name!
  • RAIDERBONE
hedge--you sound like an eagles fan, frontin'. naw, man--don't need a complete overhaul, cat. we beat the eagles and have looked damn decent with much of what we have. and the name? true raider fans LOVE it. it is the best freegin name in the nfl. OAKLAND RAIDUHS! love the way it rings... now, we get a new "solid" independent/strong coach--possibly a top tier quarterback(possibly even grotowski will turn out to be that guy)-- a little improvement on the offensive line--a go-to wide receiver and his dynamic compliment--hey, man---WE ARE THERE! come on, al--you and your staff need to hear the fans...
    • RAIDERBONE
and romo! thanks, man...keep the faith and keep the word. folks will be slowly comin back as al and company get their sh together... be real cool if this turkey day, they beat the cowfolks... only problem, the "talent" kicks too much ass(and the team DOES have top talent in a few key places), we may get stuck with cable.
  • romorules
Thanks Raiderbone and have a nice turkey day!
