Panthers sign Georgia star DE Charles Johnson

"The Carolina Panthers have signed third-round draft choice (83rd overall) Charles Johnson from Georgia, the team announced Monday. A 6-2, 270-pound defensive end, Johnson played in 35 games with 13 starts for the Bulldogs prior to entering the NFL following his junior season. He finished his career with 73 tackles, 14.5 sacks, which rank 10th in school history, 62 quarterback pressures, six forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and 12 passes defensed. A second-team All-SEC selection as a junior in 2006, Johnson led the team with 9.5 sacks and became the first defensive lineman in school history to lead the team in passes defensed with 10. Including Johnson, wide receiver Ryne Robinson and tight end Dante Rosario, the Panthers have signed three of their eight draft choices. Also, Carolina has waived defensive tackle Marques Thornton. He had been signed as an undrafted rookie free agent from Texas A&M on May 4." Sounds good being that I've been getting worried about Ruckers durability and age. From what I've heard he would have been a top draft pick had he waited a year to come out. Just have to get to signing Dwayne Jarrett, Kalil, and Beason.
