Cal's #1 RB James Montgomery leaves Bears, WTF?!
The Cal Golden Bears lost a good amount of their offense to the NFL draft and graduation this offseason, but they expected RB James Montgomery to be their #1 back now that Jahvid Best is still rehabbing his injured hip. However, breaking news out of Berkeley yesterday reports that the RB has asked for a release from his scholarship and head coach Jeff Tedford has granted it. This is a blow to the Bears, but it's not the end of the world. We need Best back, but before that we have Shane Vereen, Tracy Slocum and newly recruited Covaughn Deboskie to fill the void.
