DeSean Jackson Won't Win the Heisman

In the biggest game of the opening weekend, DeSean Jackson busted a 77-yard punt return for a touchdown, the 6th of his sensational career. He also showed his skills as a receiver with not too many, but solid catches (including one over 20 yards). So why won't he win the Heisman Trophy? No, it's not because I'm a hater. And no, it's not because I think yet another U$C player will win it (John David Booty is remarkably overrated). It's because, sometimes, greatness has a price. And for DeSean, it's a chance at the greatest individual award in all of sports. Ripping through the Tennessee special teams unit for a touchdown on his first return of the season is going to assure that very few opposing team will kick to him for the rest of the season. And even though Cal has an impressive corps of receivers who can all cause some damage, you know he is going to attract more than man coverage when lined up as a wideout. That should limit his production. Case in point (although an extreme case): the Trojans triple-teamed him in last year's matchup and he only had like one catch. Now here's the caveat. I so hope I am dead wrong about this. So feel free to tell me why I am.
