"Cowboys are everything that's wrong with the NFL"

Former Philadelphia Eagles coaching assistant and current Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh experienced the Eagles-Cowboys rivalry up-close and personal for nine years while he held several coaching assistant positions with the Eagles. Harbaugh began his coaches assistant career in Philadelphia during the end of the Ray Rhodes era. Then when Andy Reid became the head coach Harbaugh was one of four assistants which Andy kept. During his time in Philadelphia John formed some strong opinions about the differences between the Andy Reid era Eagles and the Jerry Jones-run Cowboys.

ESPN's Matt Mosley brought up an excerpt from Ruben Frank and Mark Eckel's new book on the Eagles, where John Harbaugh was asked why he believed that the Eagles have had so much more success than the Cowboys over the last decade.

"Why is that? Because what Andy Reid and his program stand for the opposite of what the Cowboys stand for. The Cowboys are a star system. It's all about building around individuals first and collecting talent, collecting great players," said Harbaugh.

"Andy has always been about building a team. And over the long haul, it's a team sport, and one of the greatest examples of that is what's happened with the Eagles and the Cowboys over the last ten years. The Cowboys stand for everything that's wrong with the NFL."

Some might disagree with Harbaugh's opinion, some may even consider it a bit harsh. But a team is a team, not a collection of superstars. I agree with everything Harbaugh says, everything Jones stands for is the opposite of what an upstanding organization like the Eagles stand for. From his team to his personal life, to his Godzilla-size stadium that cost more than any other stadium before it - and we all know that stadium is less about a house for the Cowboys to win in and more to add to the legacy of Jerry Jones.
