So that's what Andy Reid saw in that guy.....

If you lived anywhere near the Houston area you saw a big cloud off dust rise from Reliant Stadium, that was former Eagles, current Texans running back Ryan Moats dusting off his once unused potential during the Texans Week eight encounter with the Buffalo Bills.

We in Philadelphia cried out so many times to see this guy actually blow-up during a game, to no avail. Finally the one time he actually does it he's wearing a Texans uniform. Moats actually did great against the Bills, the Texans usual starter - who actually hails from the Philadelphia area - Steve Slaton, was having a fumble-rific day against the Bills and was taken out.

Which allowed Ryan Moats to rush for 126 yards and three touchdowns for the day. Week eights game was Moats biggest statistical day in the National Football League.

In Philadelphia Moats was compared to Eagles All-Pro running back Brian Westbrook, mostly due to his size and stature, very little of it had to do with his football ability. But last Sunday he played very much like B-West in his prime, he didn't catch many balls out of the screen. But still, pretty damn close to a Brian Westbrook kind of day.

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak stated that he would consider using more of a running back committee in Houston from now on. But, if I were Kubiak I'd give the Eagles a call and request footage from Moats rookie and sophomore seasons, where he was given the ball in a running back committee situation, and even as a starter when Brian Westbrook had his 2005 seasoned shortened due to injury.

During those two seasons he compiled just 347 yards and 3 touchdowns over 15 games. He almost reached half of his '05,'06 yardage total, and he tied his touchdown total during week eights game against the Buffalo Bills.

What it means is that if I was Kubiak I would still consider given Moats some carries, but not take too many touches away from Slaton. Moats could ultimately turn into the running back Andy Reid thought he could become in Philadelphia.

But until Moats has a big game against a defense with a top tier run defense I am not convinced that he has turned the page. But really I am not a Texans fan, so they could declare Moats the new starter in Houston and it wouldn't matter to me.

Except on my fantasy teams where Steve Slaton is my number two running back on a couple of them.
