Support for Kold..er Kolb....

Dear Kevin,

Please don't be a screw up this weekend! Although I am not one of your most loyal fans, you are after all, an Eagle. As much as I don't understand Andy's thought process in drafting you and placing you as the heir apparent to Super 5, I will put that all aside this weekend and cheer you to victory this Sunday. I ask all my Eagle barkers to do the same, which I believe they will. So good luck on Sunday and remember, it's the guys who wear YOUR color uniform you need to get the ball to, not the other color.....GO BIRDS!!!!!!!!

  • I will be chanting for Garcia all game. Keep this bum on the bench. Or better yet get rid of him. If he plays more than one quarter we will lose this game. I hope Andy realizes he was dead wrong about Kolb and starts Garcia.

Care to take back you comments?

He's our quarterback as long as McNabb is out, let's learn to support him. Like filly4ever says...

I really hope Kolb plays well. He's handled his situation well and he deserves full support from every fan. We need this win because this can be the difference from playing in Philly or New Orleans come January.

Hey!!! Just remember that Brady, was a benchrider until Bledsoe went down. Sure Kolb, screwed up against the Ravens, but is that all of the chances we give someone these days? OR,....go to the auto parts store, get a can of GM Beige spray paint and get a Kolb uniform fitted for Vick......Just sayin` is all.
  • ME and my girl are expecting on september 26th so i may not be able to see the eagles/chiefs game, but what better way to bring my kid into the world with an eagles win and a 3-0 start...

Enjoy it Latin!! Don't miss the tailgating. Being the first game of the season, there should be plenty of entertainment in the parking lot..lol. Sorry to say I won't get to this one, but I'll be watching and Kolb better produce or its curtains for him!!!!!
  • He has to be mobile in the pocket--to succeed, and read defense well, they will test him early and often, like a rookie qb----kolb needs to play well,if he does not---the eagles will trade him or release him,and keep garcia on roster---STEP UP OR SHUT UP---HOLLA AT YOUR BOY---YARD #1
    • filly4ever
      Placard_complete_small
If he flops, I don't know what team would possibly want to trade for him...Wait...call Al Davis...lol

Dear Andy....RUN DA BALL!!!! Keep the heat off of Kolb early and instill confidence in the guy. Please do not come out throwing and turn the crowd on the young fella. I know its a hard thing for you to do, but Westy is ready for a big game so JUST DO IT!!!!!!
    • chzsteak
I've been waiting for someone else to say this!! There are two stud rb's on this team. Use them!
  • pubicreign
I am so sick of all these "picks" for the saints! Philly CRUSHED a team that was battling for the an NFC Title last year and went 8-0 in home field games (All with Jake the snake). Even if Reid lacks confidence in Kolb's deep ball, you can always refer back to the Breat Favre passing patern that is going on with the Vikings, a bunch of 5 yard dumps...And the way the O-line is playing and a healthy Westbrook you all know as well as I do, thats scary! Not to mention the Saints gave up 27 points to the only team in Nfl history to not win a single season game!!! Silence this garbage birds!
    • how ya feel now pubic hair???

  • eaglesblitzz
I am really scared...I hope Kolb can pull through
  • pubicreign
We took 14 to the bank off ST and D likewise. That is a really good sign that the Saints were hit that way.
    • EazyEagleZ
The Saints can be had this week, but Kolb needs to manage the game. If the Eagles get a lead in this one it's over.
  • EazyEagleZ
I watched some of that Detroit game and many of those points were not all on the defense. Detroit had a return for a touchdown, and Brees threw a pick to set Detroit up as well. I think the Eagles will beat them as long as Kolb can manage the game and the Eagles run the football, because the Eagles are a better team. The Eagles need to run the Football and get an early lead. This might sound strange, but if the Eagles force the Saints to become a pass only team they will beat them, because the Eagles get to the quarterback and these type situations.
  • schmidtdigler
I think Kolb is gonna surprise some people.
    • EazyEagleZ
I really hope you are correct. I want him to surprise some people. If he can do what A.J. Feely did when he won 5 games for the Eagles that would be great.

I would love to see kolb do well. He has been waiting for this moment a long time, and if he doesn't do well, he will probably be on the bench the rest of his career. If he truly is what this organization has hyped him up to be, he should do welll. I personally can't wait to see him play!

  • EazyEagleZ
5 things I took from this game.
    1) Kevin Kolb deserves to start another game.
    2) Andy needs to cut down on the Wildcat.
    3) Quinton Demps should return kickoffs.
    4) The defense needs to play better.
    5) Kevin Curtis should not start over Jason Avant.
    • EazyEagleZ
On second thought I think I would perfer Garcia next week.
    • filly4ever
      Placard_complete_small
haha...yea, Kolb just makes bad decisions at the wrong times. Wildcat disrupts the offense. I don't like it. Demps is hurt, isn't he? Curtis should not be on the field, if he is hurt. That is nuts. You can see he has no speed! I agree that Kolb should start next week and bring Donovan back against Tampa. Don't get me started on the D....
    • EazyEagleZ
I do think Demps is hurt and so is Curtis. Avant is the better player, but Demps lost his return job for some reason.
    • DeJack_10
Lost it to Ellis Hobbs! Ugh...
  • filly4ever
    Placard_complete_small
I won't put this on Kolb today, although he did make some poor decisions. He actually played better than I thought he would. The defense is what concerns me at this point. Its early in the season, tho and hopefully they get it together.
    • EazyEagleZ
I don't think this one is on Kolb either, but there were some inexperienced mistakes made that a team looking to win a superbowl can not afford to have. He threw 2 pretty bad interceptions. Still the defense never made stops. Can't blame McDermitt either. Special teams coach should be fired.
    • hollywoodeagle
Unless you feel like sitting through an 8-8 rebuild season we better use garcia or Vick if McNabb out longterm
    • Love4DaStar
      Placard_complete_small
kolb played better than romo...usually i expect those kind of performances from romo in dec, not in week 2 when u open up the brand new stadium...gonna be a long yr for dallas fans
  • filly4ever
    Placard_complete_small
Yea man..how about Hobbs pumpin his chest down 3 td's after his big return, even tho he fumbled to give the Saints a TD earlier...Paleeeeeese....
    • EazyEagleZ
Somebody should have told him to STFU. His fumble changed the whole game. Kolb drove them down for the feild goal when they were getting the ball in the second half and then he fumbled. Far too many wildcat looks too.
  • McNabb is our best chance for a super bowl. Today should have told you all you need to know. The yards Kolb made no difference. Who ever said he our most was accurate QB should have thier head Examined!

    • hollywoodeagle
Agree beagle. Kolb nothing but a third option at best. But Andy wont ever admit that. He will blow easy win over KC to prove Kolb a legit pick. Andy IS ARROGANT
    • EazyEagleZ
That's the truth. If we are rebuilding and trying to devlop a young QB that's one thing, but for a team with Superbowl aspirations you can't keep going wih the young guy. If Garcia decided to stay in philly in the first place this team never would have drafted Kolb so high.
  • EazyEagleZ
Can anyone tell my why Jason Avant is not starting for the Eagles right now? He is clearly their second best reciever right now, and has the best hands on the team!
    • NPhillyBirdman
      Placard_complete_small
Cause we won't have anyone catch passes on 3rd down if he does lol
    • EazyEagleZ
He can play on third downs too. Put him in the slot on third downs.

Curtis has not been fine in over two years. He has shown very little recently.

      Placard_complete_small
curtis has a knee problem. once he works through it he will be fine. just wait and see.
    • ItsWhatever
Usually you leave a guy with little or speed in the slot. Thats why Maclins getting the Start 2morrow.
    • EazyEagleZ
Wes Welker plays the slot all of the time. Maclin played the slot in college. Aquan Boldin plays outside and he is bigger and slow. So does Muhhmamed, Owens, and Plaxico Burress. The little speed argument makes little sense.
    • EazyEagleZ
I am surprised so few people are in support of Avant. I will sweeten this thing up more. For the Curtis people I say this: For a wide receiver Curtis has terrible hands. He always lets the ball get into his body and that is a no for receivers. That's why balls always bounce off his face mask, shoulder pads, and chest. Now that he has a bad leg he is pretty much useless. Maclin is still learning the offense and has much catching up to do so I doubt he is quite ready to be a starter. Someone said all Avant does is catch first downs. That reminds me of Buddy Ryan's response of all he does is catch touchdowns as to why he cut Chris Carter. Give a guy a legit shot and he will show you what he can do.
    • filly4ever
      Placard_complete_small
I've always liked Avant and Curtis should not be on the field if he is hurting. It affects his speed.
    • ItsWhatever
Plax is 6'5, T.O is indeed quite fast. Muhammed played outside when he was faster, Carolina converted him to mostly slot. Avant has the perfect skill set to produce in the slot.
    • ItsWhatever
Oh and Maclins starting, so it looks like Marty and Andy have the right idea.
    • EazyEagleZ
Maclin started and looked like a rookie. I would hardly call Play and T.O. fast. Their speed is just as good as Avant's. Try again.

I'm just hoping for a win. I flew all the way out here from Cali for the Saints game, and am hoping to experience my FIRST home victory (we lost to the Cowboys in 07 and Gaints in 08). So let's hope 3 is the charm and we finally get a win when I'm here in Philly! Corn on the Kolb better play well or I'll be one of the people screaming for Garcia. Maybe this is the game where Andy runs it more than he passes? Over 5 yards a carry vs the Panthers. Should be fun. Go Birds!

You're telling me! lol We get crushed every time I go to a home game. The only redemption is that every time we lose at home and face the same team, we win. Perhaps a re-match in the NFC title game in the works with D5 in the mix. Say it with me...Championship. Haha. There's always next week and my NFL Ticket watching the Chiefs! Until then, NYC is CRAZY. Hotel is right in the middle of times square. Having a blast. Gonna drown my sorrows with the Broadway production of the Lion King right now. Ha!

OK people. What do you think about this week? Looks like Kolb gets start #2. I expect him to be much better this week. If not, and God forbid we lose, then kick his butt back to Houston. No more excuses, Kevey!! Stop throwin the ball to the other damn team!!!!!!
    • Wheelman
      Placard_complete_small
Ain`t Kev, we need to be concerned about. I want to see some real improvement on the D side. I don`t want to see Cassel or whoever growing old in the pocket, before throwing strikes to receivers that aren`t covered adequately. Kolb can get the job done, putting points on the board. The yards he put up last week were outstanding. But if the defensive guys are gonna allow the other side to keep the game close until a mistake is made by your O-line or QB, then they aren`t doing their jobs.
    • filly4ever
      Placard_complete_small
True, Dubya. The whole key is pressure on the QB. In week one the D line and blitz packages won that game. In week two, for whatever reason Mcdermitt did not pressure the Saints and the line got no pressure. For the Birds to win any games this season, it all comes down to pressuring the QB. Jim Johnson ran his defense that way. All about pressure and one on one coverage down the field the closer the opposition got to the end zone. McDermitt MUST use blitz schemes if the line can't get it done. We shall see....
    • EazyEagleZ
Kolb needs to step up and make plays. You can't turn the ball over and win in the NFL.
    • EazyEagleZ
I think the D will bounce back this week, but they must stuff the run this week.
  • kristinmasyn
how can some of you people say jim johnson did this and that, then go on to say mcdermott aint doing what JJ did. for one it is ONLY WEEK 2, now about to be week 3. and secondly, nothing against JJ, but he was our DC last season and what was our record? 9-6-1. so i think mcdermott deserves better than what hes gettin, how do you know he didnt call to pressure the QB? he wasnt the one playing on the field when asante missed all them tackles.
    • EazyEagleZ
      I know filly4. LOL

Please do not think I am a Kolb hater because I'm not, but I think you are giving him too much credit saying he looked good this week. He did have some very nice passes, but there were many passes if thrown to a better D would have been picked off. He wasn't bad today, but still hasn't won my vote for a future starting QB.
  • kristinmasyn
and thats what a lot of people thought when mcnabb got drafted. i dont make judgment until i really see someone play enough. im not saying he does look like a future starter, but im not saying he doesnt.
  • EazyEagleZ
Kolb was good today. No turnovers which is always a good thing. Shady looked good to, but I hate how he holds the ball.

    • So...how did your prognostication work out??? Saints did what they wanted, be it run or pass. Whatyou guys don't understand, because the big northeast media talks more about Sanchez than Brees, for example, is that the Saints have a dominant interior O line. Best kept secret in the game.
Combine that O with an opportunistic Gregg Williams D, and you got a team primed for a deep playoff run.
      Go Saints!!!!!!!
