The North Philly Birdman Show Week 1

I really only want people who know and understand football that posses common sense. Please no idiots. If you honestly don't know then please state so. I'm not in the mood to argue with pointless and stupid people. If you have a valid arguement then yeah let's go. I've asked nicely and you know who you are.

Goodafternoon Ladies and Gentleman, Atheletes, NFL fans, and all EAGLES FANS.

Much like a record deal, anybody these days can get one, just come up with a catchy hook like "F*** that sh!t, he poured drank on my shirt beotch " and add Lil' Jon's "yeeeeahhh!!!!!" and bam a one hit wonder. Well I came up with my show called the NPB Show. They gave one to Andy Reid and Donovan so why not me? Well they never technically gave me one but I took the iniatitive. So anyways, certain topics have been brought to my attention.

Q: Why doesn't Michael Vick alternate in and out w/ Donovan McNabb?

A: Why doesnt any other team in the NFL have a 3rd string QB's alternating with their starter...? Still thinkin...because they don't that's why. When have you seen a 3rd string QB alternate with their starter. Not even in Any Given Sunday with "Steamin" Willie Beamin. He waited his chance and that's what 3rd string QB's do, they wait for an opportunity. I know we have a lot of Vick lovers but reality is reality. This ain't Madden where you can start who you want. This is the NFL and a business as well. Vick was brought in to help him get back into football shape and more importantly trade bait for teams who will need a QB next year. I see the Eagles trading him for a 2nd and 3rd Round pick. The perfect was to utilize him was with the wildcat which isn't doing very good right now. No fault of his, I blame the coaching staff. When my 7 year old knows it's a run play when Vick comes in and he only plays 2-3 times a game, either she is just really smart or she is just REALLY SMART. Do you think the Eagles running the wildcat scares the opponent. It continues to fool me though cause I wish they would do something different. Instead the coaches let me down. The coaches need to mix it up, make defenses respect it for what it is and Vick for what he can do when he comes in. Your not going to get many yards with 8-9 men stacked in the box. I wonder how many you wil get with play-action and one on coverage with Jackson, Maclin, or Avant and Celek. When they respect the pass out of the wildcat then you open running lanes and become less predictable.

Q: Should Donovan be benched?

A: Donovan has not had a bad game like the one last year that warranted his benching and does not need to be benched as of yet this year. The team although fresh off a loss to Dallas is 5-3 and still very much in the hunt being 1 game behind the Cowboys. Granted he has been off and on but not like last year. You have a QB who is playing with a fractured rib and an injured offensive line so don't be suprised if he is a little jumpy in the pocket or insecure. Recievers hear footsteps and so do QB's. Donovan has lost his comfort in protection with the loss of Runyan and Thomas. He has been sacked 20+ times this year which is near the league high. What Donovan needs to do is focus and allow his fellow teammates to make plays and not try to make them all by himself.

Q: Why can't the Eagles win close games?

A: Again I beleive it goes back to the play of the offense and injuries plaguing this team. The offensive line is a major issue which is the reason the Eagles have had a hard time sustaining drives and also the inconsistancy. If McNabb doesn't have time to throw which was proven against an oustanding Cowboys' defense and pass rush, he won't complete many passes people. The Cowboys did what they had to do and that's pressure a weak line. How they blocked so well against a great Giants d-line still has me puzzled but the Eagles have me puzzled every year. Give McNabb more time, you get more completions. McNabb needs to understand that "McNabb rules football didn't get approved for a reason" He needs to be more accurate and precise with his passes.

I would like to address those and take any other questions that you may have.

Why don't we use vick n dmac at the same time? Screen to vick n throw to desean deep. They did with fred x n west. I would say vickhas a better arm n desean is faster so why not?

Vick has a better arm? Better than who? He was a scrambler at Atlanta, because he had to be. He had to be because he doesn`t pass worth a crap. His stats don`t show him having much of any success with the pass.

well 20dawk, regardless of who has the better arm. I totally agree that when Vick does enter the game to open up the playbook. Teams already know the play, they just don't know who or where it's going to. If I know you going to run it with no threat of the pass, forget 8, I'm puttin 10 in the box and try to run thru that. In order for the Wildcat and Michael Vick to be successful, Andy Reid and the coaching staff need to open uo the playbook. Let's see these plays Andy said he had in store. I dont wanna see them when we have no chance of making the playoffs.
    • hollywoodeagle
I like it dawk. Thats what im talking about. I just dont think Reid is that creative. he steals other teams plays. He is a mimic artist. Nothing original.
    • 20dawk4life
Better arm than fredx not dmac sorry if it sounded that way. As for vick being a bad passer I know but he did lead a team to the nfccg as a qb so he can make one or two passes a game. Plus no one can keep up with desean so send him deep n let it go since like np said they just stack the box a little surprise for everyone

I was looking for some trickier plays since we signed Vick, not just the Wildcat crap. Anyway - good points NPhilly. I have a question here...How can the Eagles look super one game and totally flat the next? Happens every year. They are never consistent.

      Placard_complete_small
Wow HG, I mean really I think the Eagles are the true Cardiac Kids of the NFL. If I had a pacemaker I'd be dead already. The reason is do to the inconsistantcy of the coaching staff and players. For one when Donovan's game is on the Eagles are pretty hard to be beat bottom line. McNabb needs to step his level of play up and not lose the confidence of his teammates. He has been here before and he has to believe that he will play better and prove it. The players with the false starts, offsides, blocks in the backs, taunting, holding, all of that is discipline. You can't make the same mistakes and stupid ones for that matter. They always seem to come on a big play that the Birds make which negates it. Also, you won't go far in this league without running the football. Can't run, can't control the clock, you become one dimensional. The Eagles don't run enough when they should especially on 3rd & short yardage downs. They need to be more physical on the line and control the tempo of the game. A good running attack always opens up what the Eagles like to do best and that's playaction. Playaction won't work if the "D" is not fooled. If the Eagles coaching staff can get back to the basics, walk before they run, the Eagles should be o.k.

I agree its a once ina lifetime opportunity to get two probowlers on the field at the same time. unfortunately McNabb appears to have lost a step. Im not sure why but he doesnt seem to be able to turnon the speed anymore. If this was a few years ago with Westbrook, McNabb and Vick the possibilities are endless.
    • hollywoodeagle
hockey, inconsistency is an eagle tradition get used to it

A: If you know the answer to this then your a sick f*ck.

I would hope fat or maybe a solution to the Eagles short yardage dilema's.

I was gonna say an extra red flag since he seems to lose all of the other ones. I was expecting him to pull it out during the Cowboys game, but I think there was a cave in.

Time to find an open receiver and then set, to throw the pass. That`s the big problem. Believe me when I say, that McNabb is not enjoying having to make plays that others should be doing. He`s the QB, not a WR, or a running back. The offensive line has to step up and stop the pass rush. Fundamentals people, the opponents are stopping the run and covering the receivers. DMAC can`t do it all, nor does he want to.
    • NPhillyBirdman
      Placard_complete_small
Wheelman, you are right on the money. I would like to see any QB in the NFL who can complete passes accurately within two seconds of receiving the snap and the receivers aren't running quick slants. With no time to throw, the play can't develop. The line needs to figure it out cause they know they are the best the Eagles are going to be able to put together. This is a shot to earn a roster spot next year. When you get time to play make the best of it cause you might not get another especially if you get your QB killed.
    • hollywoodeagle
I think his protection has been good. His decisions are questionable.
    • Wheelman
      Placard_complete_small
If his protection is so good, why then does he have to scramble so much? That TD toss to `Captain Morgan` Celek, was made on the run. Was DMAC running because he felt that he needed the exercise?

    1) Why does Andy Reid always clear his throat in press conferences?

    2) Why do coaches talk to their scorecards?

    3) Is it true that Zebra's are technically blind?

    4) When its 3rd and 1 why does the big guy line up in a shotgun. telegraph a throw to the tight end...that every fuc*in idiot in the free world knows its a pass cause he aint got the gonads to run Weaver...because thats why we got his big arse to make holes and the fat guy refuses to use him when we really need him and so he gives you that puppy dog look on the sidelines cause every NFL team has seen that same friggin formation and the same friggin arse play for friggin arse ten years now???@#!@$#$%@#??....ahem.just curious NPB????.....
    • Wheelman
      Placard_complete_small
It`s a little known fact that the Zebras are required to have 50/20 correctable vision in each eye. Reportedly, its written this way so that none have better vision than the VP of Officiating.

      Aight filly,
      1. Because he is fat, seriously. I feel as though it's just a preparation to get ready for the multitude of questions and is probably a habit. Maybe his throat is sore from the yelling and doesn't want to crackle when he talks. Wish I knew the answer to that one.
      2. I'm assuming you mean when they call plays and if so it's so the other team or whomever is watching on camera doesn't read their lips and know the play. When a receiver drops a pass why does he look at his hands (cough) Fred-X when really it's all mental cause what makes your hands work...your brain.
      3. You know i've asked myself that question before and I like Wheels answer. I think they collectively, like a jury, get together and state their case and the head ref usually determines the outcome. Normally whoever had the better look makes the call but when it's 4 and 1 in Donovan's case. They really need to use all the landmarks and tools available to make the correct call. They are not exempt from the rule book as well and shold read it to stay current. For as long I know, when a players elbow or knee touches the ground and the defense touches that player, he is down by contact. McNabb's elbow was on the ground when he was touched and therefore he ball should have been placed there. His forward momentum had not been stopped since he was still rolling forward.
      4. I think I answered that above. The running game needs to be utilized if you want to win close games or any games in the NFL.

Is being footballski practice in Romania, HA HA. Our number one quarterback, Mikhail Vikgobage is throwing pigskinski and showing his SuperTureen form. Team is being Bucharesti Turkeys, leading Eastern Division over CowturdBoys from Smilioffski, HA HA.
    • tampafan3
Vick might as well get out of philli,he's never gunna excell there with McNabb and we know that he can excell elsewhere cuz we know he got game.so,give him to a team that's terrible, and not us cuz I'm good with Freeman, give him to Tennessee,Vick and Young, good combo, and Collins can retire.

I want to see him in Buffalo. He says he`s reformed, so go do some penance on the frozen tundra. You WILL do a lot of running there, or you`ll freeze your buns off, LOL.

lol,Fitzpatrick seems to be pretty good though, and I don't know if Vick and Owens would be a good combo.

      Placard_complete_small
Doubt if T.O. will be in the Icebox for two seasons in a row. But if he is, it might be a great matchup. Think of it, two guys who are very good at what they do, hooking up for a team that hasn`t had any starpower for ages. Having a great receiver could elevate Vick`s game, and having a mobile QB could do the same for the Circus.
